Can anyone tell me. what is the formula to find the brake horse power of a automobile engine

Definition:
The measure of an engine's horsepower without the loss in power caused by the transmission, alternator, differential, water pump and other auxiliaries. The actual horsepower delivered to the driving wheels is less.

Brake Horse power (as apposed to horse power) indicates that it has been determined by measuring the power it takes to brake (stop) the engine. Hence this is not a calculated value.
