They can shorten any day but the owners are a greedy bunch and so are the players. Never happen.

I don't mind the 162 games, that is fine, but I do think the season is dragged out a little too long. I don't understand why they can't have day night double headers like they use to. If teams played 2 games in a day every Saturday, think about it, in a 4 month time period, that is about 16 Saturdays give or take, but that would equal out to 32 games, shortening the season. If this could happen then we wouldn't have to worry about snow-outs in early April, the season would be the same, but the length of it would be shorter. And I know there are some of you out there thinking, well the franchise will lose money. Day/Night double header would be the same as a make up. One group of people come in for the day game, then they leave, and the next set come in. More people would be able to see their team play without having to take time off from work, That's my thought on it.

Yes, it's way too long. They start playing in early April when snow is still around in many parts of the country. By the time the World Series is over, it's nearly November and the snow is flying once again. Some bad-weather postponements could easily force the games into November.
If the leagues would return to scheduling doubleheaders on a regular basis, it would help immensely. Unfortunately, money rules, so don't count on it ever happening.
Might as well get used to it.

The regular season is not too long. However, spring training should be shortened considerably. Players should report IN SHAPE as they do for the NFL and stop this nonsensical long spring training.
Chow!!

Yes. One double header in which each team is forced to wear red jerseys and three pairs of batting gloves per team.
