i'm not fat...even though i used to be. i'm getting better with my weight. but i've always wondered why people waste their time laughing their as*ses off about that kind of nonesense. it's just that if you're extra skinny like a toothpick then people will mock you to death about it like as if that's all they have to live for.
*??* thanks who can ANSWER this question!!

Insecure people do that. People who have a sense of what life is all about dont make fun of others. They value their time and their life. Just ignore and move on. If I saw anyone who did something like that I would go up to them and slap them. But it happens all the time to everyone so ignore and be a winner.

The game Dance Dance Revolution is a fun way to burn calories if you like dancing, and don't feel like just dancing. I set a time to play for a half hour a day, and ended up playing for close to three hours a day because it was so much fun... lol. My Playstation wire broke :( so I haven't been able to play in a few months, but I loved it. Just about everything you do burns some amount of calories even simple things such as cleaning your house burns calories. Right now I play a few mild games of basketball with some friends, or go for a long walk for exercise(I can't run due to hurting my ankle really bad when I was younger.. DDR was helping to strengthen my ankle again, but now that I can't play it, my ankle will swell up if I try to do anything too rough then it hurts for at least two weeks =/ ). Any active interests you have do those things when you have time, whether its sports, dancing, walking, rollerblading, skateboarding, etc, etc.. It's all good for burning calories.

Society has always made fun of or shunned people who are different. Children do it because they don't know any better in the beginning. Or because they see their parents do it. And, if, as parents today, we don't teach them any differently it will always be the same.

I was tortured as a child. I am teaching my daughter that this behavior is unacceptable. No matter what someone else says to her.

She attended kindergarden with a little girl that wet her pants, a little girl that had a problem with her leg (one leg was swollen) and people of different races and sizes. We are learning that people are different and we do not say things that might hurt their feelings. We discuss this on a regular basis.

I wish all parents would try to teach their children to be just a little bit better than they (we) were. Then their children can do the same and so on.

Can you imagine what an impact we could make in the future!

People are rude, insensitive and ignorant, plain and simple. When I was younger, I was skinny as a rail and I'd be called chicken legs, Twiggy, etc. I grew out of that stage and you'd never know I was the same person. If people only knew the damage they do to a person's esteem maybe they wouldn't put other's down. I even had a 6th grade teacher call me stupid, skinny, etc and made me feel so bad about myself that I didn't want to go to school anymore. And to think, she's suppose to be a role model!? The shoe could be on the other foot people, stop and think before you judge others.
Insecurity also is a factor...on their part.

They have nothing better to do? Seriously tho I think it is more that with someone who is overweight you can see it right away, kinda like someone having a bad hair day or a huge zit. People make fun of people to usually feel better about themselves or to draw attention away from themselves. Then you have others who are just genuine asse$ and want the attention and think that making fun of someone is the way to get it. I don't really know why. I have been thin and teased and overweight and teased.

thanx love. it does mean a lot 2 us big people when a regular person feels the way that u do. i guess some people r so obsessed with the outside they wont give the time of day 2 look at other people's hearts. they're probably shallow, & have empty lives.

yep, their own insecurities. i remember in high school i used to make fun of the people that had something that i was afraid of getting/becoming. Like i always made fun of people with bad hair. I think its because deep down i thought my hair sucked and i was afraid that if i didnt spend an hour a day on it, it would look like that. (i'm nicer now) so i would say its probably people who are afraid of being overweight

OMG I agree with you. I don't know why some people think that being overweight is funny and it can really hurt people's feelings and make them feel self conscious. I am actually really thin and even though my doctor says I am at a healthy weight for my age, some people will still make me feel bad sometimes by commenting on my weight and I wish they really wouldn't so I definitely agree! I hope this helps =)
