There is no such thing as a true purpose for a person. You must understand that life is about living to the best of your abilities. Make the right decisions and dont reapeat your mistakes and try to make the best of what you have because thinking about wasted opportunities just takes out more of your life (and your hair).

By the time men get older, it's becomes a matter of perspective. They realize all the mistakes they made; the missed opportunities; the realization that the should have went left instead of turning right; a whole lot of stuff.
It comes down to what you feel in your spirit. The hunger or drive that says you should be doing something else, but your unwillingness or procrastination holds them back.
A person can begin to find their true purpose when they learn who they are. Does something need to change? What's holding them back and why? Once they find those answers and start to go in the right direction, they will begin to be happy.

It's a GOD thing Victor. Your soul has an agenda and it is your responcibility to meld with it and trust your heart. What are your desires? Unfortunately society has force fed us with the idea that happiness is equated with materilism. It is a fact that people that love what they do are expedentially better at it and happier. If you are good at what you do and believe in it as being an important part in supporting and advancing your society then compensation will come naturally. Follow your heart my friend. If you have to settle for a little less in the begining so be it. The Law of attraction will reward a cheerful heart! Good luck and GOD Bless...

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (noted philosopher, mathematician and atheist)
There can be no true purpose in life without God and the honest atheists will agree. Without God, the phrase "you were meant to be" is utterly meaningless.
So without God all you can do is seek a feeling and there is no accounting for feelings. Most of these answerers are telling you how to get good feelings and not true purpose. Through busyness, distract yourself from those thoughts of real purpose.
But if we are created beings, then your need for "true purpose" was put there by your Creator to point you to seek Him.

the moment where you find your true purpose varies for different people and there isn't a guide or manual that will tell you what signs to look out for but still, make the most of everything.

The best things to do are to follow your interests rather than what would seem to be a good paying job. Immerse yourself in your interests, get as much education about your interest and find a way to make it support you.
