The Mariners aren't trading Ichiro this summer - they are only a handful of games behind the Angels after they swept the Sox this weekend. If we did offer them Papelbon, Lugo, Delcarmen and Crisp I have no doubt that they would take that trade - as they only have Ichiro signed til the end of the season and I am not sure how high their expectations of re-signing him are. You may see a move for a guy like Mark Texiera or Jermaine Dye for Lester or Bucholtz and another minor leaguer - but I honestly don't see a reason to grab either of them. Crisp is starting to look good offensively (playing amazing defensively) and Jacoby Ellsbury (just called up yesterday) could turn into another Hunter Pence and could add that necessary spark.

No. They can't trade paplebon. If they trade anybody for Ichiro, They would trade Crisp, Lester, and problably another starting player for Ichiro. If they trade Paplebon for Ichiro, that would be one of the worst trades in Boston history. Ya the lineup and the D would be better but Paplebon is arguably the best closer in baseball. So far this year it has been Cordero and Putz but, by the end I think Pap will have the better year. All they need to score more runs is for JD to step up a little more and for Lugo to get above .200.

Papelbon is the strenght of our bullpen!!!!!!! We need bullpen pitching. And Lugo...well, we might as well trade him for a sock....and Crisp is starting to heat up. Plus, Ichiro is leaving Seattle at the end of the year, so he would almost be like a rental....I don't know how much the Red Sox would be willing to pay for him (he's getting on in the years. Ichiro is awesome, but you can't mess with Father Time). What we need, is someone who can drive in runs. Youk and Pedroia are getting on base (and they're about the only ones). We need someone to DRIVE them in!

First, in baseball, they are called "runs," not "points." Secondly, Papelbon is worth two of Ichiro. The others could go, but not Pap.
