I was running on a slightly downhill slope a month ago and my big toe somehow got under my foot and i kind of stepped on it. it didn't hurt a whole lot, but afterwards it was purple with a couple red lines (blood i suppose). the markings healed about a week or two later, but it's been a month now, and when i try pressing my foot on my big toe like i did when i hurt it, it still hurts. only a little bit, but more in comparison to my other foot. will this eventually heal? thanks

a color change usually indicates a break in the bone. You need to go to the doctor and get an xray to find out what is wrong and to get proper medical treatment.

With the history you gave, it sounds like you suffered a hyperflexion (toe is forcibly flexed down) injury of your big toe joint which caused some ligamentous/tendonous injury of the structures around your big toe joint. I'd recommend seeing your local podiatrist for a follow-up to make sure everything is healing up ok and also get a referral to see a physical therapist so they can do treatments to get you better. These soft tissue type injuries can take a while to heal up. And yes, they do eventually heal up. Hope this helps!

Go to the doctors and check.
Until then try cooling it with ice.
