I am a teacher. I have fallen behind about 2 months worth due to dentist repairs. I am looking for a loan of $3000.00 with about $600.00 payback per month. It would only take me 5 or 6 months to pay back (plus interest). Payday loans don't provide enough money. Does anyone have suggestions. I just want to get back on the right track, pay off everything and have a little bit left for gas, groceries etc. I called Beneficial, but couldn't get the $3,000.00 loan. My 2005 Chev. Venture Van is paid off, but don't have the title. My father in law has it. I want to get this paid off so at the end of the year maybe buy a small house for my 2 girls without having to throw away rent money.
I get direct deposit each month and can set up an electronic debit on the 20th of each month.

I checked out the answers from most of you. Prosper seemed like a great way to go only the credit score has to be 520. Are there any companies like Prosper that offer loans with lower credit scores?

you wont get a loan from a bank with that score. try a credit union or a private loan co.. there are some loan companies that will use your furniture ,jewelry, etc. for collateral. but there interest rates will be sky high so paying the loan off in the time you planned would be the best way to pay it off. also once you pay it off don't close the account, keep it open if possible. this will help with your credit score. use the same technique with credit cards ,once you pay them off leave the credit available to yourself.

Yes this will help you greatly. After six months you can consider looking into a credit card again. I took a secured loan from my bank which they called a dream loan. Basically they set up a savings account and I made 100.00 a month payments, until I reached a thousand. Each month they reported to the credit bureaus I was paying on time, just like any other loan. After ten months my money was released back to me along with the interest. It helped me raise my score. You might want to try Orchard Bank for a credit card. I had about a 580 - 630 score and I got a card from them with only a 59.00 annual fee.

More credit??? your already in debt up to your ears!
Re-think this idea, getting more debt isn't going to help you.,
it looks like it just gives you another bill to pay each month.
Few people can handle a surprise $600 bill a month without
some hardship unless they are drawing on savings to cover it.That score of 420 implies you have other debts outstanding.
My advice,( since getting a loan is doubtfull right now), avoid
any new debt, concentrate on paying those existing debts- which when finished will free up monies to pay the medical bills and help improve your score .
Also, consider asking that the dental bill be extended for
lower payments over a longer period of time, OR if you decide that you must get a loan, get it for medical debt ONLY.
Good luck.

No offense but my credit score is almost 200 points higher than yours and I have a hard time getting loans. My suggestion to you is to get the title of your van from your father in law. For a person with your credit score, that's your only and best bet. If you have a bank account, try getting a loan with them. Other than that, I'm not sure what else you can do. Good luck.

Sorry but anyone that would give you an unsecured loan for that amount with that credit score will only end up destroying anything that you have left, in credit, money , and interest rates, and terms alone, making it even harder to to get a home in the future. Unless you come into alot of money to pay off your debts I do not see you getting into a house, taking this type of loan out only makes your chances even worse. TO improve your score for one stop applying for loans each time you do your score goes down 5-7 points. Pay your bills on time, if you are having problems with that call your creditors and try to work something out, many times you can get deferments which put you back on time without affecting your score. Get your cards down below 30% of the cards limit, tough yes I know but better than the road you are taking. Stay away from payday loans they only bleed you dry slowly but surely. Best suggestion is to contact Consumer credit counseling services, a free government agency that can help you by eliminating some interest and late payments having you make one payment a month to them and getting you out of debt. Give them a call it is not only your best option, but as I see it your only option at this point. No have no affiliation with them, but have had some friends that have used them with remarable results. Good luck to you, hang in there

I hate to say it, but I'm afraid that I have to agree. Your credit score is bad enough, you won't be able to get an unsecured loan. Not right now. Even if you managed to get your payments back in line, a home loan would be tough. You need to keep plugging away, and look to the long term.
