First of all, walk on the stage like you own it!
Suggest the character your auditioning for (i.e. nurse- wear white)
If they ask you do do it again, don't worry, they are just seeign if you can act in different styles.

Your question reminds me of mine about 3 months ago. So I figured I could give you some great advice since I was in the same position not too long ago.
You see, I am a singer and absolutely LOVE singing. And there was a musical that was gonna be in town, The Music Man, that I thought would be fun to sing in. The only problem was that I am not the greatest actor. Well, I can act but don't really at all. So, I decided I might as well give it a try. And I went into the thing not minding if I didn't get a part but still wanting to try my best.
I was most scared for the auditions. First I had to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. That wasn't too bad at all. Then for the acting part we read some lines from the play. I did okay it was just like reading in Lit class or something like that so it wasn't that bad. Then I was done. That was it! All the sweating was not needed at all!
So I say go for it. Try out. Do your best but remember since this is your first you may not get in but at least you can go and watch the performance and learn some things.
Good luck!

Since you mention cinema..are you auditioning for a film or a stage play. Big difference. If you want to learn to act, you have to do so on a stage!!!..not in front of a camera! Just go in a do what they ask you to, to the best of your ability. Many times they are searching for a "look" and if you don't have it, your chances are somewhat diminished. "Not getting a part" (rejected) is just part of the process and it happens to the best of actors, so don't let that discourage you. Good casting people can see through nervous auditions. You do your job, let them do theirs. Break a leg!!

You need experience! Try to attend a actor class and start to learn what to do and dont do. If you dont know a thing they will through you down the thrash can. Educate yourself, get some experience and then go to auditions. Johan

The best thing to do to combat nerves is being prepared. If they ask for a monologue...make sure you know that thing forwards and backwards. Prepare yourself for the questions that they might ask you...i.e. reading your monologue differently...or asking you questions about character/story...stuff like that....
just go out there and give it a go...whats the worse that can happen really....you dont get the job? well no loss to you....keep at it and eventually something will happen for ya!
break a leg!

Take acting lessons. If you have never auditioned, don't do it until have taken acting classes for a few years.
