What is modern femininity?

Fake Boobs?
Being dangerously underweight?
Giggling and smiling a lot?
Having fake blonde hair?
Being submissive?

All these things seem as natural as a chimp in a suit to me, they seem to go AGAINST the essance of what a woman actually is.

Do you think there are any differences between modern femininity and classical femininity and do you think these differences are positive or negative. All answers welcome :)

Would be nice to hear some acedemic answers to this question, not just peodophillic men who like shaven skinny girls as apposed to women.

i would say that modern femininity is socially constructed . the media now dictates what is and isent feminine

being stick thin and having implants is grotesque in my opinion

both posh and jordan had a natural feminine quality and they have spoiled it by having surgery and loosing too much weight. they have both lost a lot of their natural beauty and feminity by doing this
Having a slightly submissive personality and nice smile can be sweet when its natural , however when it is obviously fake it is quite nausiating

women should be their natural selves and not play up to the horrendous media steriotypes that are making women look stupid.

stay the same as you are , our fathers and grandfathers appreciated curves and body hair why cant men today

I usually don't care about this thing since I am not a woman nor an effeminate for that matter.

Though there is an apparent difference between the classic and modern femininity, and that is the word 'modern'.

The world we live in now is a dynamic world, and femininity is just one of the many things that go along with it.

In the end, if these modern femininity would bring self-esteem to each and every woman, then there's not even a reason IMO, to think of it as negative.

Do you know what I hate most about femininity?
It's that 'ninni' bit in the middle.

'Femininity' is what transsexuals aim for. Very like the list you made - all 'ladylike', lipstick and powder and flirting.

The one feminine, womanly grace we no longer pursue, is 'deportment'. Every Victorian illustration of young women shows a straight back and an upright carriage. It may be the corsets? and it might also me the long petticoats.

Franz Ziegfeld once bought pure silk, lace edged petticoats for every one of his chorus line, made by French nuns at huge expense. His partner objected because they wouldn't be seen. Ziegfeld said: "But just imagine how they'll feel!"

Femininity has been commercialized for thousands of years, so, as you look at what the "ideal" has been, decade by decade over just the last century, you see a broad scope of expectations. I say, be yourself. Someone will love it! And it Will be in style somewhere, sometime in your own lifetime.

I think there are aspects of femininity that are timeless, and still unthreatened today. Softly verbalizing feelings, enjoying being a beautiful being, stopping to smell the roses, ....
