Both. I spent the first couple of decades in denial. I wasn't ready for romance or a complex relationship. I had more opportunities than most people. Now I realize that maybe it wasn't so bad remaining alone. I don't pay child support and I still have plenty of time. It is a matter of perspective.

Oh god, I had this conversation with my mother on Tuesday re: ballet, tennis, gymnastics, relationships, everything. I was afraid. I get really good at stuff and then the pressure to keep it up is too much so I throw in the towel....I don't think I've ever been so honest in typing that.

When I was younger, my fear took over a lot of things, but as I got older, I started to back out of things because it was the right thing for me.
