Very hard..everyone should either be in school or employed unless yo are too young for employment. The internet is a good way to make online friends but not very safe as far as arranging face to face friends. Be patient school will start again in 6 weeks or so. Don't get depressed there are slot of people in your shoes. Too many people especially young people think they are the only ones lonely. Not true. Your time is coming to be over busy, overscheduled, phone ringing off the hook etc. Read to pass the time

Neighbors are a great place to start. If you have a dog, find the nearest dog park and start there. You will already have something in common. If you don't have a dog, volunteer for a neighbor that maybe can't walk the dog as much as they would like.
volunteering in general is a great place to meet new people. They, the volunteers, tend to have a friendly attitude because they are working for free. I have seen many friendships develop in working with foreign exchange students. There are many organizations that would love to have you working with them. Find something that interests you and give them a call. Many times the committment is small so it shouldn't takeup a lot of your time.
I wish I could give you some of my hours or homework!!Are you a prince? a lottery winner? :)

If you are friendly you will make friends outside of work or school. Just smile to people and you will see the incredible results it will bring. You will feel a little awkward at first but once you get the hand of it it will bring awesome results.

It's very difficult, I know because I am disabled so I don't work or have many social activities at all. I suggest, if you are healthy, you find a hobby, something you enjoy doing and get involved that way. There you will at least find people with similar interests.

Why are you not working or going to school? Your friends already established, keeping in touch by way of email, phone and visits. The Internet is a dangerous place to try and make Friends, just my opinion. God bless****

I have the same problem. Mostly I spend my time here answering questions, surfing the net or daydreaming. The only thing I'm doing right now is I'm learning Chinese and I want to quit my classes bec I simply can't get it. I might take another short computer course to keep me sane.
