if Vick is willing to be a team player, they have a good chance to be a contender once again.

Without question Petrino is one heck of a college coach. The transition for the college coaches to the pros is littered with one failure after another. The only one to make an impact was Jimmy from Miami but he was aided by one of the all-time stupid trades. We'll see if Petrino can pull it off.
As far as Vick, he palyed a couple of games last year where his passing was awesome but he is inconsistent. Also, there is a good chance he will be suspended for a few games because of the dog fighting issue. I don't see Vick as a mature all around quarterback that can lead a team far into the playoffs.
So, I think it is too early too tell and there are too many question marks when it comes to the Falcons. They also have to contend with a revitalized Saints. Now if Petrino had Brees this conversation would be totally different.

It's possible, if they work really, really hard, they might win 3 or 4 games this season. Petrino is a college coach. College coaches don't do well in the NFL game. Michael Vick is a college running style QB. Running QBs don't do well in the NFL. Vick should have switched to safety or wide receiver. He would be in the pro-bowl yearly if he had. Now, he's just Kordell Stewart.
**Bearfan... "Glory Days are over"... hahaha. They never had any glory days. They make Tampa Bay look like a storied franchise.

There is an old saying in football that the quarterback's main responsibility is to get the ball into the hands of his best athlete. With Atlanta, that is impossible since Vick is their best athlete and possibly the best athlete in the entire league. If Petrino allows Vick to turn the 1000+ yards he gained on the ground last year into 1600+ this year there may be a chance. Otherwise, Atlanta's defense will need to step up big time.

I think if Michael Vick plays, then the Falcons will suck. Vick sucks. I don't care what people say about him. He gets payed 100 million dollars and he doesnt perform like he should. Petrino should put D.J. Shockley in. They put him in a couple of times and he did great. He is better than Vick to me. If Vick plays, the Falcons are going to keep sucking.

I have to disagree the falcons will be a very hard team to beat. Vick is a coachs dream. Petrino just needs to get a QB coach to help put some touch on the ball. and whatch out the ATL will be back. Mark my words.

I think Zinger hit this one on the money.
The ATL, Dirty Bird and Co. definitly have alot of question marks surrounding that team.
Its tought to say how they will do, i see the falcons as having a 50-50 shot of winning a winning record.

Vick will be damned for running to much in one game, and damned for not running enough in the next. Plain and simple, he is damned etherway if ATL doesnt win.

Michael Vick won't be playing this year because of dog fighting so that's the end of that.
