AOL is absolutely the worst "suite" of software ever written.
There is simply no need whatsoever for an ISP to put software on your PC that is that invasive. If I were you, I'd opt for another ISP.
IF... and I say IF you feel the absolute need to have an AOL email account, simply use their free email feature and/or AIM.
Personally, I wouldn't.

Well... I never used AOL before, but there are plenty of other chatting messengers. For example, there are Windows Live Messenger, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Adium, Google Talk, Skype, iChat, and a whole lot more if you start searching. :)

dear god I hope not. AOL is the biggest piece of crap I go to wal-mart and get the ***** just to use as frisbees.
