Acquitting the guilty is worse. Yes, the innocent will lose time from their life, but because of the law, the guilty will still be able to walk the streets as if nothing happened, until the next time they do whatever it is they did. Because of double jeopardy, they can't be retried for a crimminal offense. So technically, they are truly getting away with what they did.

The WORST thing that EVER happened to humanity? Honestly it hasn't been the worst thing. I believe Hitler and his prototypes have been much more destructive, and btw they all thought they were "righteous" in what they were doing. The church is made up of humans. Some humans are good and want to follow God/Jesus, such as St. Francis of Assisi, then there are others who are in the church to manipulate circumstances for their own benefit. Really it can be compared to the "MadeOff" case. Bernie Madoff made his living as an investment broker, adviser, etc. He stole millions of dollars from unsuspecting investors. Just because he is a crook, doesn't mean all investors are crooks. People are people, inside the church and outside. There are good people and there are bad ones. Put the blame where it belongs, on the individual.

Both are bad, but sentencing the innocent is the most terrible thing. Just look at the innocent people who are being released from prison after serving 20 years. It's a disgrace.

Sentencing the innocent. As much as I hate to see someone guilty walk I would hate it even more if an innocent person was sentenced to prison.

That's a tough question. I would say acquitting the guilty. Because you know for a fact that the person committed a crime which could be child molestation or murder. You don't know for a FACT that the person is innocent or at least that makes me feel better about my decision.

Definitely sentencing the innocent. Imagine you're sentenced being innocent. How would you feel?
Now imagine being guilty and acquitted. How's that? Yes, much better.
Do you sense the irony:)?

Sentencing the innocent because they wind up losing a huge chunk of their life in jail. The guilty are more likely to commit a crime again, although it will be at the expense of someone else...aw crap, I changed my mind they are both worse.
