Language is communication. Accurate communication depends on an implicit or explicit set of conventions, understood by the vast majority of people who receive the communication. Those conventions are what we call grammar, or syntactical context. If you move outside those conventions communication is impaired until a new set of conventions develops. Provided there is a consistent set of SMS conventions, communication occurs.

But I could not have conveyed the previous paragraph in SMS. SMS is dumbing down communication. It reduces discourse to a series of ambiguous grunts about which a Neanderthal would be embarrassed. Imagination and creativity is primarily displayed in linguistic fireworks. SMS just can't hack it.

Ya sms is killing english language. As we all know we send sms via cell phones & we are required to pay for it. So we generally use short cuts like 4 for for, bcoz for because, etc.. Nowadays children are equipped with cell phones at a very early age & of course we cant expect that they dont know how how to sms. This makes their knowledge of spellings poor. It is really killing English language. To apply shortcuts means killing a word which indirectly kills the language simultaneously. But we cant help it & stop it as the people today have become very economic & they want to save even .01 rupee. So this killing of English language cant be stopped. Not only children even adults & highly qualified people are adopting these short cuts. In a way I should say that they try to learn new short cuts as every second is important to them. So we can call them The Murderers of English Language. This way we conclude that the whole world is the Murderer of English Language.
