Hello I don't think the birth certificate issued by any Municipality in India mentions the name of the child in the birth certificate. The name of the mother & father are only mentioned with the date, time & place of such birth along with address of the parent. As far the name you give to the child in school for all purposes remain his or her official name through out his or her life unless the child himself or herself or you change it any time of his or life time. The change of name procedure usually involves the press notification in two newspapers & even a gazette of India notification, along with the affidavit to this effect dully attested by the notary or first class magistrate or gazetted officer as the case may require that is being given to the authorities where ever you want the change of name is required. The name can also be made public by getting an independent passport of the child where on the basis of the birth certificate & the name you want for the child can be registered & that it will remain official name of the child for life time as the passport issued by the government of India is an official document.

Birth certificate, if you obtained it immediately after the birth of the child does not mention the name of the child. It contains the name of the child if you obtained it belatedly.

As far as your problem is concerned, you have a right to give a different name to your child while joining him/her in the school and it remains as his name for all purposes.

In future, if he/she desires to change his name to that in his birth certificate (if it is) a notification in Gazette and news paper publication may be given for change. Till then, unnecessarily do not worry your self. Be happy.
