I would talk to people who did know him, and get some kind things from them.

Or I'd talk about how they touched the lives of everyone there, and will be missed. However, as long as you think of them, they are always with us.

This was why my family opts out of funeral services. My father wanted to be remembered with laughter and not eulogized by someone who didn't know him.

Hmmm....

May the all merciful and all knowing God have mercy on XXXX's soul, I did not know (him/her) in life but God knows all and has granted (him/her) a place in heaven amongst the angels.

Let us give thanks to our Lord and Savior that when our time comes, we too may be ready for him and lay our eternal souls unto him for judgment and a second baptism.

Alleluia !

Exchange a sign of peace, peace be with you all.
