Depends what kind of job you have... If it is a "good" job that other people want badly, you may only find sycophants. If it is a low level job like at a restaurant, you'll probably find many friends.

Friends are rare. I mean really good friends. The workplace is like a friction ground. You see too much of each other and alot of backstabbing occurs not because they want your position but they just have to find a way to save their backs. If they know too much about you, they can use it as a weapon against you if you offend someone (even without knowing it). Just be careful with what you share about yourself, your ideas, plans or secret formulas.

I think it depends on the job you have. I work as a children's craft coordinator. I am friendly with the people I work with, but I do not see them outside of the work place to socialize. Not normally. I did make one friend working at the place I am now. I quit before she did. We are still in contact.

I'm inclined to keep people I'm currently working with as collegues or "work friends". "Collegues means I have to be careful about what I share with them, and be circumspect in my behaviors. "Work friends" are people I feel I can trust in limited ways, and be slightly more at ease with.

Usually, I don't become close friends with people at work until one of us doesn't work there anymore. Keeping my job and my personal life separate has always been a good choice.

Not really. Well, when I had a job (at a gas station *grumbles*), they were mainly just collegues. I never got too close to them. Well I did manage to make one friend. She stopped her job though. She stays home, and makes babies now.

Of course I found friends at work.
These were people I spent more time with than many of my own family.
We shared meals and conversations.

Friendships just develop naturally in most work environments.

most of the ppl I work with are twice my age, so I guess collegues. I can't really be good friends with someone whose 32 or older, ya know? theres just nothing in common...

:-(

I haven't found anyone that I really click with. Though we are all friendly towards each other, we work in a high stress, physically demanding environment that does not encourage attachments.

I have made both at the jobs that I have had in my career.
Just be careful with co-workers until you can be sure that they are really friends of yours. Something about wolves in sheep's clothing.
