Eric, you and aaron are blessed in that you have found careers that you can be passionate about, that you truly love. Some people are lucky that way, and I'm happy for you both. Now, the trick is going to be to walk that line, assuming you plan to have a family some day.
And for most people, there really can be an imaginary line between work and home life, and sometimes it is so hard to do a balancing act.
I had to give up my passion when I became a mother, and I don't regret it in the least. The job I have now, while a good job that I will be able to stay with for the rest of my working life, HAS to stay in second place. My family comes first.

Heh. Job. No I don't have one of those. But I do work. It's not like I'm a lazy unemployed (difference between those who stay on SSI for a long time, and those who stay on welfare for a long time). But I don't like to be defined by my outward status. I'd like to think that I'm at least a little bit more than what I appear to be.

It's a job. Really, it's just a paycheck. The purpose of a job is to support your personal life. Once it starts interfering with my personal life, then the job has lost its purpose, and I need to either scale it back or find a new one.
I USED to be one of those..it's my CAREER sort. It took me awhile to realize I was wrong.

My job is important to me, I have a strong work ethic.
But it does not define me.
I won't allow it to become a way of life.
It is just one part of my life.

I love my job. It is definitely more than just work. Does that make it a way of life? I guess you could say that.
