you could say,
they were never seen.
or
noone ever saw them

"Nobody had the time to see them"
This might work if your situation is a couple of people waiting at a doctor's office.

I think we need more context to give you a good suggestion.

How about a simple answer: "nobody saw them".

(In which part of your country do they say that kind of sentence, just curious, or is it from a western film?)

They were never discovered...their positon was never revealed....they stayed hidden...hope that helps
