If I want to smoke in a pub, I will. Kids shouldn't be in there in the first place.

swearing unfortunately is a criminal offence, since it causes public disruption. You can actuallu be arrested and charged under the terrorism act for doing it.

It's not about just kids. There are adults with brains whom understand that second hand smoke is actually worse than smoking a cigarette. You made the choice to kill yourself by smoking....others made the choice not to, but have to breathe in your poison too? Grow up you selfish jerk.

As a non-smoker (who absolutely abhors the smell of cigarette smoke), I agree that kids should not be in a pub in the first place. I also agree that smoking in indoor in a public area should be banned BUT with an alternative since smoking tabacco in itself is not illegal unlike smoking marijuana.
They've actually done this nicely in the my country, but again smokers have a designated place to stay where non-smokers do not have a right to complain.
As a parting note, I observed an ingenious smoking area inside Dubai's international airport. It was aesthetic, open, and yet served its purpose well. Maybe governments should look into those

I am not a smoker at all and do not agree with the ban, think it's a bit over the top really.....BUT some pubs do have a children's license. So children are in some pubs and even if the area is a non smoking part, smoke still travells. Has never bothered me though when we go to family pubs I must say, and I agree with who said What will they ban next? Probably chocolate or swearing in public??

I have just left lots of bars because they are full of screaming children now. I agree they should not be there. I was actually moved from one outdoor area to right beside a children's playground instead. I commented I didn't think it was an improvement but that's what your average jobsworth is like !

It is an idiots charter - but oddly enough businesses like that tend to go out of business - or in this case find themselves under new management.

You might get fined up to £200. I think the ban is stupid. I personally don't smoke, but if i feel uncomfortable in a place where a lot of people are smoking, I will walk out of the room, Why can't other people do the same ?
What are they going to ban next ???

Although, you are correct in the fact that children should not be in pubs, the real factor in the matter is that second hand smoke is worst than smoking itself, and will bring harm to your baby boo hoo.
