You will need to contact your country's consulate office in the USA more than likely located in New York. Call them and let them know what happened and they should be able to grant you a replacement within several days.

Next time make a copy of you passport and keep it in a safe place in the event you loose it. It makes it easier and quicker for the consulate office to reissue.

Just call your embassy or consulate in the states. Inform them of your problem and they will tell you what to do. No big deal here. it happens all the time. For future reference. Always keep several copies of your Passport, birth certificate and a drivers license in several places in your baggage, wallet, purse etc. It is also a good idea to have copies of your airline tickets so you can show them that you actually did have the ticket. These simple procedures will really simplify your life if things happen. Like losing your passport. Think what would have happened if you had lost everything. Copies will save you in emergency's.

Well, i don't know if it's the same in the US, but usually you can just phone up the Home Office and reapply, they will issue you a temporarily one for mean time. Don't panice, just call their Home Office, it can happen to any one.

you should report to the police that your passport was lost
(for your own benefit)

then you need to go to your consulate office and re-apply for a passport.....

good luck
