While the IRS advertises actively credits people especially low income credits that people may/are eligible for but leave out the fact that the credit will be forfeited with no means of appeal if the credit is not filed for in a timely manner an acceptable practice? Shouldn't they be required to add time frames regarding allowable time to file for credits along with their advertisement the credits are available?

The mission of the IRS is to collect taxes. The entitlement mentality of many folks believe they are a give away agency which they are not. When congress got in the feel good business with programs like EIC they distorted the mission of the IRS. Now that the IRS is giving money away you want to complain that you don't have enought time to get up to the table.

If 3 years, 3 months, and 15 days from December 31 of any given year (or more, depending on what day of the week April 15 occurs) is not enough time to file a tax return to claim any credits. I don't know what is.

You are absolutely correct. People need more time to file their tax returns.

Can you sense the sarcasm?

No. The IRS plainly states the filing requirements and deadlines. It's up to the individual to file their return on time and claim their due.

They don't know what they are doing except making sure they collect the right amount the government wants you to pay. They have no other idea what is going on and they don't care about anything else.
