My friend said my paper sucked and I just wanted to know what you think.

Charles Lindberg, the last survivor from the first flag- raising over Iwo Jima during World War Two, died last Sunday at the age of 86.
The first flag-raising included Corporal Charles Lindberg, Platoon Sergeant Ernest Thomas Jr., Sergeant Henry O. Hank, and Private First Class James Michels.
Two of the first flag-raisers were killed during battle no more than eight days after Iwo Jima.
Although Charles was not killed, he was shot in the arm by a Japanese sniper on March 1, 1945. Lindberg was immediately evacuated from the island to recuperate.
After being honorably discharged from the army, Charles moved back to his home in Grand Forks, ND, where he married, then moved to Richfield, MN. Charles raised two daughters and three sons; and worked as an electrician until he retired.
He often spoke to his children’s schools and shared his war memories. In 1995, Charles returned to the island of Iwo Jima for the 50th anniversary of the legendary battle.
The nation bid yet another war hero farewell at Lindberg’s memorial service on June 29th, he was laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Thundering jets and some vintage World War Two planes flew overhead as many people said it was deserved. During the ceremony Lindberg’s daughter, Diane Steiger said a few words, “The angels needn’t worry tonight, another Marine has arrived. Our hero has gone home, the heavens are safer tonight.”

Usually when people post their articles and essays on Y!A for evaluation, I'm extremely critical. I have to say, though, yours is very well written and interesting. I think you did a great job and I'm not sure why your friend was so negative.

Not all books are about fantasy some are informative (informational) like this one book called You wouldn't want to be on the Titanic or A book I read about John Fitzgerald Kennedy's assignation. Articles are good too but they give you a small idea of a story a book will tell you every thing about a story. I am not saying articles are Evil but I prefer books.

That's fine. If your friend has a specific complaint, consider it. But if he can't find anything specific, then don't worry about him.

The only thing I'd suggest you change is to rephrase the part that said, "as many people said it was deserved."

Snowflake. I write articles for my local newspaper all the time. I think yours is very well done. I really like it. Is your friend the type that tries to downplay others accomplishments?
