We're fighting "them" THERE so we don't have to fight them here. Why would we need border security?

The U.S. isn't battleing drug lords in Mexico. They have machine guns, rocket launchers and behead people too. Drug overdoses, drug related accidents, fried minds, and other forms of violence related to drugs have probably killed and injured more Americans than the people from the middle east.

There was a foiled plot to ignite the jet fuel storage tanks at JFK Airport two weeks ago. Another plot stopped three weeks ago to attack Fort Dix. Another to bomb the Sears Tower. Another to blow up a NY City subway. A man in Muslim dress suddenly blew up 100 yards from the entrance of a baseball stadium in Chicago (forget the name of stadium). His explosives apparently malfunctioned. The TV news won't carry these events. That's why most people don't know of them. But, it is why the concern for border patrol. Good question.

Actually if you really read about it you'd understand border security is more about the droves of illegal Mexicans coming into the USA than about the war in Iraq or terrorism.

Drug trafficking, human trafficking for prostitution, slave labor, (yes it does happen in the U.S. you just don't hear about it) murders on the border. criminals escaping to and from U.S. terrorist entering country, Mexican people taking shots at national guard units. now ask yourself if we need border security. i am a national guard member and trust me this all happens on a daily basis. just because we are in a conflict over there doesn't mean there aren't people we need protection from over here. not all bad people are middle Eastern.
