It will be too damaging to their faith if they actually knew some of what is in the bible.

I, a pastor's son, am educated about the Bible.
The Bible is simple enough for a ten years old to read, and is hard enough for the most Godly.......
The Bible is the only book in the world in all history that contains all truth.
Though the English versions do have some mistakes.....
The Hebrew and Greek are the originals.

In answer to your question, yes, I know much about the Bible.
And you can't educate anyone to believe the Bible, people must believe in it themselves.

Most christians I know don't know the bible well. Many(most) elder americans were conditioned and socialized by the concepts and values of their religion. Believing the bible, well, lol. Do people actually believe in witchcraft and demons with horns today? But in the bible it is said to be real. People ignore most of the scripture and place their own opinons and beliefs on what their selected scripture means. Did you know that the bible has been rewritten so many times because of errors, but he said he wouldn't let any man write it with flaw... . Where was he when it was being incorrectly translated? A lot of people think that the stories and lessons in the bible are genuine but there are stories and lessons almost exactly like the ones in the bible that were written thousands of years before the bible was. Copycats. tsk. tsk.

Its true that there are some things a lot of Christians do not know about the Bible, but all Christians read the Bible and the Bible is simple enough to understand for everyone. It is also available at any bookstore.

You really do not have any education to have a personal relationship with God. And when you have it, then you know that the Bible is the Word of God.

We do not actually have to believe the whole Bible. I do. But the very minimum is that you believe that Jesus is Savior and He can and will save you when you accept Him as a Savior.

Your question is insulting. You have no means to know what I or others do or do not know.

I am educated. I do believe the Bible. I do not know everything about it, but I know enough to cause me to strive to live as a better person today than I was yesterday.

A challenge from a woman? Comparing yourself to others in a general sense is never wise. I have forgotten more than most have learned, and to remember is a gift, not an ability.
To have knowledge does not mean you are wise but your question begs for more words to be spoken or proved. But looks as if you imagine you know something we should all learn?
Personally I cannot imagine you can ask a question that cannot be answered very simply from the Bible.

They read. But they exercise doublethink. Or they only read the nice bits (about 2 paragraphs in the later chapters).

They certainly seem to be good at ignoring all the nastiness in it.

Any serious study of the bible reveals it as a brutish and ignorant book.

I think that "educated" and "believe in the bible" are mutually exclusive terms.

I have read the bible through 11 times, it is wonderful
yet before I came to know Jesus -it was a mystery to me

this is help from above=this is how I as a Jew came to know Jesus personally

"Unto us a child is born, a son is given, and he will be the mighty God, and the prince of peace." Isaiah 9:6

the answer is still in the salvation of the soul-till then we are on the outside looking in. Revelation 22 "Do not add to my word or take from it or you will get plagues, and never find salvation."

this is how I got salvation-believing the Word of God="I love you, and ask you to repent of your sins (even one lie) quickly. Behold I stand at your heart door and knock if you hear my words and ask me in, I will come in and be your friend." Revelation 1:1=Jesus words spoken from heaven & 3:19&20

so i prayed "Jesus I am sorry for my sins, come into my heart and help me, be my friend, amen."

Now Jesus is my Messiah, best friend, and savior, he comforts and keeps me, and His word has become the love letter of my life in Spirit and in truth.

Praying the best for you too, David

I wouldn't mind seeing the following added to holy books. That is pretty much the only worthy or reasonable thing a holy book could say.

"This work is entirely fictional. Any events and characters portrayed within are purely fantasy. Any similarities to events or people both living and dead are purely coincidental.
Comments and criticisms are welcomed and encouraged."
