It's not harmful at any age, but before sexual maturity, most cats simply won't respond to it. After a cat has matured sexually, only about 1/2 to 2/3 of cats respond to it (the ability to sense it appears to be genetically determined); the rest are completely indifferent to its effects. I'd wait another couple of months before giving your cat anything with catnip. You may want to stick with fresh catnip; the stuff in most toys has been sitting on some warehouse shelf for months, and usually has precious little potency. Check with your local pet supply stores for toys that use fresh catnip.

Catnip is not harmful to cats. It gives them a high feeling like a person would feel on marijuana but it doesn't have the harmful side effects that marijuana would have on a person. Some cats don't even react to cat nip.

I don't think it is harmful at any age. The young ones don't seem to like catnip, but I don't think it can do any harm.

Giving catnip to your kitten now is just fine. She'll love it. Introduce is slowly and not very often and then start letting her play with it more often and then all the time. That way if she has any problems with it you'll find out early on. Good luck!

hey how are u? i dont know the real answer but i can give u an opinion, im pretty sure dont quote me but i think catnip is for older cats that have lost the inner kitten it helps to give them a energy boost i guess but i dont think that it should harm ur kitty it might just make him/her a bit more playful if that

When they are small (up to 4 months old) they are immune, every kitten is.
When they get past that age, they start to be affected by it.
10-30% of all cats have no reaction to it ever during their lives.
And no, it's not harmful, no cat can overdose on it either.
