The idea is that we were created in innocence at first. Adam and Eve had no knowledge of good and evil before they ate from the tree; therefore, they were not accountable for any "bad actions" because they were not aware of them. God is the only being that can have both innocence and the knowledge of good and evil... we cannot.
This is according to Christians, of course.

The creation actually was in two parts, Angels in Genesis one and mankind in Chapter two, so knowing this we understand we as mankind are a shadow of a shadow. We were originally created spirit beings and after that a body was formed and that spirit was put inside a body. So that spirit is the imagine or the Eternal God but our flesh bodies have a fallen nature very much like a beast; Ecclesiastes 3:21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

From all eternity, God had an idea in his mind ... an idea that was favorable to man ... a concept that provided man with power and privilege, coupled with a high purpose ... as well as a unique, and God-given personal dignity.
God translated that mental "image" into reality, by his own power ... and Adam ("the man") was created.
Adam failed to accept the "image" that God had in mind for him, so he soon fell from God's grace.
Then, in the fullness of time, God sent one near perfect human woman (Mary - the New Eve) who was divinely equipped and purposed to bear God's own divine and perfect son (Jesus - the New Adam), in order to demonstrate to the whole world, exactly what God originally had in mind.
Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

"God" creates through an "inner" act upon "Himself". Thus, we are one with God (likeness...image...).
The world we see, individually, and as a race, is a dream, a sort of mass hypnosis, from which we awoke the instant it "came". We remain as created. Nothing has changed...we are in the image.

Really it's the other way round. Gods are created in the imagination of humans, to have all the virtues and failings that humans have.

Allah (God) did not create our father Adam in his (Allah's) image... he created him (Adam) on his (Adam's) image. Which means that Adam was created as a fully grown adult human... and didn't have to go through the various "images" of growing up into a fully grown adult human. Allah (God) knows best!
