Plato taught the imortality of the soul.
Jesus taught the soul can be destroyed
(John 3:16; & Matt 10:28 And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be in fear of him that can destroy both soul and body in Ge·hen′na.)
Plato taught trinities:
Jesus taught people to worship the one true God
(John 17:3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. )
Plato was wrong on so many counts that Paul told us not to be fooled by philosophies of men.
(Col 2:8 Look out: perhaps there may be someone who will carry YOU off as his prey through the philosophy and empty deception according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary things of the world and not according to Christ; )

A philosopher/teacher who spends their time wondering if they are right or wrong will be only that effective.
Truth comes through a sort of filter, this mass of "white noise" we call ego...it isn't really a mass...the soul is indeed immortal, but "right" or "wrong", minus the dogmatic ugliness the world's religion have cloaked it with, the idea of soul is beautiful to we who sense its closeness, its vitality.
Too much "proving" tends to take away certain mysteries that we might find we need, in order to keep seeking. Plato had no desire to prove anything to anyone...none of the great thinkers had any such desire; if they did, they would not be able to move forward with their beautiful mysteries, and the wonder of contemplation (which scientists practice as well, but call it observation), would have not furthered the "advancement" of science.

Plato was great because he actually used his mind.
Being 'right or wrong' isn't as important as the pursuit of knowledge.

Plato was wrong about a lot of stuff. However he was most important for developing a logical system of thought, not for his conclusions.

Because he said much more than just that. He is known as being a great philosopher for his body of works, not for 1 lone sentence.
