I have these spurts where I love my girlfriend more than anything, and then other days she is the last person I want to be around. We are currently dating, and everything started out great, we spent loads of time together and couldn't get enought of eachother. I know my gf has been completely in love with me for four years. This is our sixth time dating [i know] and I have finally realized that her personality does not fit together with mine at all. I'm a spiritual and open-minded person who loves music from as many different cultures as possible, i'm into art and a nature freak. My gf isn't open-minded, more atheist than you could imagine, not cultured at all, and is only interested in herself and only the things she likes. She also deals with major depression and depends on me greatly. She is into self-mutilation and wants to hang herself. I haven't been interested in this relationship for sometime, but I worry that if I break it off with her she will do something drastic. HELP!

YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR GIRLFRIEND. She is responsible for her own conduct. If you leave her and she does something bad to herself, that is her issue, not yours. Since when did you become responsible for others? Can you control her? Obviously not. If you can't control her, how is it that you have decided you would be responsible for her conduct? Each of us is responsible for the consequences of our own conduct. We are NOT responsible for the conduct of others.

the best thing u can do is see a counsellor or physc at ur school or on a help number. tell them ur problem and ask them what to do. its her problem and this shouldnt be left to u and u cant sort it out on ur own so u need to get some help. even if u can get her into help to make sure shes alrite but theres only so much u can do and u cant blame urself for not trying to help her. goodluck ;)

Talk to her parents - tell them your concerns - put the ball in their court for getting her the help she needs.

She needs help - and you need not to feel responsible for her illness.
