I was just bitten by my 7 wk old kitten. She was just playingbut I quickly took my arm away, but she held on. She didt draw blood but did leave marks. I quickly washed with antibacterial wash and the put anitbacterial gel and then did it all over again, just to wash it and make sure. Now, I have a heart condition so I worry about getting infections. Do i need to see a doctor eventhough she didnt draw blood? She bit me about 30 min ago and its red but not really raised above the skin. Any ideas?

If the skin was not broken...then no, you have nothing to worry about. The saliva has to actually get into your bloodstream to cause an infection. I have been bitten by my cats hundreds of times (no broken skin) and have never gotten an infection. The bites most likely to become infected are puncture wounds.

ha ha, sorry to laugh, I know you are worried and I shouldn't, but you should see my arms. I have 2 cats and I am fostering 4 kittens. I am full of bites. No, there is no problem since she didn't draw blood, and since you cleaned it well. Don't worry about the heart thing, probably the same as I have, you usually have to take antibiotics before any surgery, right? Well, since you've got a kitty now, get used to getting bites often. You can't take antibiotics all teh time, so just clean the bites well with betadine and you'll be fine. By the way, don't ever consider declawing the cat, because the bites will become harder and more frequent! Please don't worry, you will soon realize that your kitty and yourself will be immune to each other's germs!

By the way, I seriously doubt your kitten has rabies!!!! lol!!! Unless you live in a 3rd world country, which I doubt since you have access to water and soap. People, don't panic, it's just a kitten!!

If you call the doctor you will be getting the best advice and it will set your mind at rest.

Two things will prevent this from happening again:
1. Kitten's claws need to be clipped.
2. Never play with a kitten with your hands. The kittens get bigger and so do their teeth. Using a "kitty tease" is better because it gives the kitten more exercise and saves your hands from further injury.

I've taught my kittens not to bite by letting them bite my finger and then putting it back in their mouth and holding their jaw open while I say "NO BITE". I only had to do this a couple of times and they got the hint.

I wouldn't worry about anything she might have given you. Kittens are very playful-that's one of the best parts of being a kitten! As far as your heart condition goes, I would check with your doctor and your vet (via phone), but I'm almost positive that this bite is not going to give you anything. I have gotten bitten by cats so many times it's not funny--the cats I have love to play. They get red and they can swell. I would recommend keeping the Neosporin treatment going, but I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it swells. Hope this helps!

I don't believe that harmless kitten bite could be dangerous. But just incase I would check with your docter to make sure, and if anything is wrong from the bite then obviously try to get it fixed and then check with your local vet to see if the infection came from your cat or not. Try to keep the wound clean but still be very careful because even a clean wound can get infected. Make sure your cat doesn't have any bloodborn disease that she could pass onto you and just be careful next time ok.

If it bled a lot, you're probable ok; this is deep puncture wounds that don't bleed that are greater risky. save a watch on it for some days, and if it variety of feels to be getting contaminated, get to a doctor. maximum antibiotics are pills besides, it may well be frustrating to maintain a salve or cream on your tongue! are not getting so on the factor of your kitten sooner or later, nevertheless; she probable bit because of the fact she concept you have been threatening her by some ability.

If she didn't draw blood it's not that serious - if the redness stays or it's not better tomorrow, go and see a doctor if you haven't had a tetanus shot in the last 3 years.
Good advice with avoiding cat aggression is to NOT play with them with your hands - that's what toys are there for.

don't worry about that bite if she didn't bring blood. my daughter was bitten by a kitten while she was first pregnant. went to e.r. and they did nothing but give her some antibiotic and told her to call her ob the next day! we came home and washed it out and put antibiotic ointment on it and wrapped it up! it broke the skin and was deep puncture wounds. so if no broken skin, don't worry about it.

As long as there was no break in the skin you are okay.

Just be careful as you know they do have sharp teeth. As she grows she was start teething. They find fingers and toes the best to nibble on...particularly there human slaves.....lol

But seriously your going to be fine. go love on that little kitten
