Yes, if your taking in a lot of protein and not working out...you will gain wieght. It gives you fuel to work out, but if your not, then it turns to fat.

Weight gain or loss is all about calories. Protein diets tend to be popular because ounce for ounce proteins have fewer calories than carbs. This means that people can cut calories and continue to over eat. They lose weight, but at the expense of balanced nutrition. Generally people can't keep up this type of diet forever and gain the weight back later.

If you're referring to wait gain in the form of muscle mass protein is very important. Your body may need extra protein to build muscle.

no. protein is used in the development and recovery of muscle, not for weight gain. Protein is also NOT a fuel source. an excess of protein will mean that a small amount will be converted to fat (it is very hard for the body to do this) and the rest will be turned to waste.

the amount of calories you consume in the day will govern your weight gain/loss. to grow muscle it's recommended to have around 1g of protein to 1lb of weight. to grow overall you need to increase your calories by 500 per day, spread over 6 meals.

So, only decrease out the "undesirable carbs"--white bread, white crackers, white noodles, sugar and constrained dairy. replace those white carbs with entire-grain carbs and additionally you would be in sturdy shape.
