That's very true. Papers only come with a pure bred dog, usually one registered in the AKC or other kinds of kennel clubs. Mixed breed dogs cannot be registered for anything, and so cannot have any registered papers.

She's right. There are no papers for mixed breeds. The only documents you should get with a mix are his medical records. You also should make sure you're not being overcharged. You can go to the pound and rescue a mixed breed puppy really cheap. Look around to see how much you can adopt a mix for and make sure you are not being taken advantage of. Look on petfinder.com to see puppies like the one you want and see how much they are.

That's true. The only papers you might get would be a list of shots the dog has had or any other medical care. The only dogs you get papers with are the purebred registered breeds.

There have been a lot of responses stating that mixes don't come with papers. You can, however, request the pedigrees on both parents if they are purebreds. I'd ask the seller why he/she is breeding mixes. Aren't there enough out there now?

As for registries, there is at least one that provides "papers" for anything - for a fee of course, but that is what all the registries are after - money!! If that weren't the case, AKC would have nothing to do with the commercial breeders who often pump out litter after litter of genetic defects in fur clothing.

If you want a purebred with papers and genetic defects, contact me. I have several right now from a puppymill in Missouri. Check them out at http://www.saveoursetters.org - their names are JOEL, ABBIE, and AILEEN.

If you want a purebred puppy with no papers in dismal shape, check out the puppies in the Medical Needs section, same website.

You can't. Papers are for full blooded dogs. You don't need any on a mixed breed. Don't buy a mixed breed dog. They're 100% free everywhere!!!

That is a fact papers means the puppies has a pedigree (record of ancestry) certifying it's a recognized pure breed.

Why get a pup online when there's so many in shelters (unless you are adopting one online)? Mixed breed pups don't come with papers, as you would with a responsible purebred breeder.
