Yes - hygeine is very important if you are to avoid catching parasites from pets. Wash your hands after handling the dog. You can aquire roundworms by ingesting the eggs if they are present on your skin, and then transmitted to your mouth unknowingly.
It's not the saliva itself that the worm eggs are contained in - but the area around the mouth. Dogs eat & mouth all sorts of things (including droppings) in the garden, as well as clean their backsides with their tongues. This makes the possibility of worm eggs ending up somewhere around their mouths very likely - that's how you can end up with the worms after being licked by a dog. Not from the saliva itself.

No it can NOT be passed by saliva..it can only be transfered through feces. This is why you need to make sure to pick up after your dog and practice proper hygeine.

Be aware you and your dog can pick up roundworm eggs from areas where other dogs have been..so if you garden or dig in dirt where other dogs have been make sure (as I'm sure you do) that you wash your hands paying particular attention to the fingernails thoroughly afterwards.

come across a canines park and circulate to with the different canines vendors and ask who they circulate to. Many puppy shops would have a listing of community vets or affiliate that paintings there use one for his or her own pets. i became into interior the comparable catch 22 situation. I moved to a distinctive state and the sole vet in my small city isn't as much as my delight (he desires to take tests for a thoroughly healthful canines and would not understand my breed of canines!). luckily, I paintings at PetsMart in yet another, greater suitable city, and that i've got the possibility to talk to a lot of puppy father and mom who've cautioned some super vets!
