There are purebreed rescues. Shelters who specialize in Rotties. Call your local animal control or SPCA, they will know where to find one.

You can get a purebred rottweiler in a whole lot of places at a wide range of prices.
It's such a popular/common breed that you could probably open a newspaper or check craigslist and find a lot of backyard breeders selling them first come first serve at pretty low prices (maybe a couple hundred dollars?) but you're really taking a risk with health and temperment if you go that route.
You could do your research and find a good breeder producing high-quality pups with great temperments, health guarantees, and price tags to match, sometimes topping over a thousand dollars per pup.
OR you could check out rescues in your area. Again, because rotts are so popular but owners aren't always thinking through their commitments before making them, it's not hard to find sweet, healthy purebreds in need of homes, even at young ages if you're patient.
There are links to all of the options above on the AKC page below.

For a healthy dog with no illnesses from a good breeder, exepct to pay a few hundred dollars.
However, you may be able to get a great dog with the same pedigree from a Rott Rescue organization in a big city near where you live. The price is much cheaper, but the quality can be just as good... I think they require you to neuter the dog, but that should ahppen in any case.
You might also talk to your vet about good sources...
Make sure you have a training plan in place, and a way to socialize him with people, and then with other dogs. Rotts are strong dogs that require lots of training and discipline...
Any you can start training them at 6 weeks....

Prices will vary. You can check Rottweiler rescue, or any of the shelters in your area. There are many older pups in rescue.

Some reputable breeders may have older pups available. I would contact the Rottweiler Club of America for a referral to a breeder in your area.

There are many puppy peddlers and backyard breeders involved in Rottweilers. Be cautious, and only buy a pup from those who are breeding for the sake of the breed, temperament test their animals and screen for hereditary conditions.
