The neighbor lady down the street shouts out obscene names at me when she drives by my house. What should I do

I've ignored her forever. She has had her teenage kids poison my plants and pets, gouge the word "whore" into the hood of my Cadillac, went around the neighborhood and told all the wives that I was sleeping with their husbands, taken me to court 2 times trying to get a restraining order by making up a bunch of lies (they were denied), terrorized my young daughter, etc. She had her son cut down one of my cedar trees that was on the easement and tried to get me arrested by making a false police report. Her teenage son drove a dirt bike at me and almost hit me. I pushed him away from me and made him fall off. He got up, spit in my face, called me a ***** then kicked a dent in the side of my Bronco. I live on a one lane, dead end road and these people have to drive past my house every time they go to and from their home. I can't afford to sell my property and move. What should I do?
This family lies to the deputies when I've had to call them. I feel so helpless and unbelieved.

Wow. Horrible neighbor. I can't believe you put up with it for so long.
Interestingly, there was a very similar story in Reader's Digest last year. A family in Maryland, I think, had a neighbor very much like yours. She even left poisoned donuts and muffins on their front porch... and it wasn't even well-disguised. I mean, the package was wrapped up in paper bags. The neighborhood eventually gathered enough evidence for the police to intervene and put those people away. (Yes, the other neighbors didn't like them, either.)

Document everything, even past actions, as best as you can recall. See if you can find those court records and police reports, take pictures of the hood on the Cadillac and the dent in the Bronco, and gather any other physical evidence you can find. Also set up surveillance cameras in your houses, and perhaps have a tape recorder handy as well. And get a restraining order as soon as possible. Oh, and see if you can get witnesses, too. Ask your other neighbors to help. A person as vindictive as that woman does not escape attention easily... and I'm sure your other neighbors will be happy to help.

I find it especially disturbing that her son poisoned your pets. Who knows if he'll stop at just your animals?

Once you have enough evidence, the police cannot just brush it off. They will eventually have to look into it.

Unfortunately, if it comes down to it, you may have to move. I know you're not in the best position to do that... but hopefully you'll find a way to cross that bridge if you ever come to it.

I agree with documenting the assaults (because that is what they are!). Each time something happens, document it and catch it on tape, if you can. Then you will have undeniable evidence that these crimes are being committed. If worst comes to worst, I would even consider moving. I know that's a last resort, being that you can't really afford it right now, but it seems this woman and her family will not let up! Also, do look into getting a restraining order against them. You have a very valid case.

On a side note, GRRRRR! This makes me so mad! How can this woman be so vindictive? Karma will certainly bite her in the @$$ someday.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Hook up yer web cam to yer puter and run it out the window.candid camera works wonders in court.ask some savvy puter geek how to get a remote record hook up for yer puter and cam. I am sure some one can help.Don't forget the sound.and maybe just play the cam on a web site and call it my annoying neighbors. hat way people can log on to watch the fun. Call it "My favorite neighbors"

Can you not use the evidence you've stated to get a restraining order?
You may need some witnesses.
Otherwise try writing to Judge Judy.

Well, have you told them that she is a disturber of peace in your neighborhood. You can place tape recorders around to catch her in the act, too. Good luck, this lady sounds like a real...well you get the idea

Sounds like it's your turn to take her to court for harassment. Document everything and get a lawyer. You could probably also press charges for property damages. Good luck!
