6wks ago, recvd time off work due to stress. Went to psych he diagnosed me Paranoid, almost schizo (if I don't take meds it will progress). Went to him for depression and stress!
Go back to work Monday, still nothing resolved. The meds help, but I am always tired, even moreso now. I don't believe I am ready to go back to work OR the diagnosis is correct.
I am becoming more depressed because I don't see any options. I have to go back to a stressful situation, even more stressed than before (due to diagnosis).
Co-workers will hate me if I take more time off, but I know I need it.
I have thought about ending it all because of the stress, but know that is weak. I am strong, still somewhere inside. I have no one to talk to, no one understands. I am not making this up, this is real. I am afraid. What should I do?

I am not being treated for depression, just paranoia...
Doc doesn't even listen just gives me drugs and says come back next week.

Your mental health is more important than your job. Take some time off and perhaps try a different job. There are always more options available than you first think.
If you don't trust the professional help that you have already recieved then trust yourself and go get a second opinion. Even for experts, mental health problems are hard to diagnose exactly.
Get help but also help yourself. I've suffered from depression too and I know that its no laughing matter (hehe - Oh c'mon a little humour can't hurt). Do things that you know you like and are good for you. You will be surprised how simple things can help.
For me its playing music and doing exercise. That always makes me happy no matter what state of depression I'm in. There must be something out there that makes you happy every time. (make sure its healthy too)
You can get help from the most unlikeliest of places. I went in to get my bike repaired and I was a little stressed out from my job in a new city and do you know what the bike guy told me?
"breathe in, breathe out - the rest is just details" (worked for me)

First of all, a stressful work enviroment cannot cause a underlining mental illness. Schizo is not a effect of a bad job.
Your meds will not work that fast. It takes time for them to build up a effective amount in your bloodstream to do there job. I would ask the doc if he would write you a excuse for another week at work. By then you should have a effective level in your system to help ease the problems your facing. Remember though, meds alone are not the answer. You will need some therepy, behavior modification, and if this mental illness if so stressful you cannot keep, or a hold a job you can file for Social Security Disability and get a monthly check.
I hope everything works out for you. Ending it all is not the answer. We both know this. If your having suicidal tendecies please call the emergency number with your Doc.
Your welcome to email me if you need to talk sometime. I keep a regular check on my Yahoo account, so I'll keep in touch. Good luck.

Well I have depression and anxiety. When I was first diagnosed I was off work one week..but the meds had alot of side effects. So if you can take off a little more time would help. If your job is that stressful look for another job..Just remember most meds work and it does get better but you have to take your meds even though you feel better. Depression is an illness like any diease.. Good Luck if you believe in GOD PRAYS REALLY WORK..I"LL PRAY FOR YOU.

Ok first of all ... who cares if your co-workers will be upset if you take more time off... you are sick and need to get well
Secondly,,, get a second opinion.and a third opinion and a fourth opinion keep asking for help until you get the help you feel you need.....and try to find a better job... one that does not cause you so much stress...
also might try seeing a nutritionist...(the proper diet and nutrition can really help in dealing with stress and overall health) For example Vitamin B helps WONDERS in dealing with stress...
as well as try a wholistic practitioner...( I know a lot of people dont believe in wholistic medicine but you know what... sometimes they have a better grasp on how to help than all the doctors... and also... they can work WITH the doctors in conjunction with conventional medical treatment often to greater good than just one or the other)
love yourself, take care of yourself, and dont settle for something that does not feel right in your treatment.
Blessings to you

It will take a while to find the right meds for you. Some are time released or extended release. It is normal to feel the way you do.
Who cares what your co-workers think. Your mental health is very important. It can effect your physical health as well.
You may also need continued therapy, like talking to someone regularly rather than just the meds. It DOES get better, I promise. You will find "your place".

im sorry and please forgive everyone who is making fun of you. now since u r having thoughts of suicide then u need to see a doctor not a pyshce. then maybe take more time off work whether or not the people are annoyed. get a therapist bcuz they will listen whether or not they like u or not. then once ur done with everything, u cud try once u have enough money move to a new town sumwhere new and start wit sumwut of a frsh start. i hope u r ok and everything works out!!! :)
also try jesus. he will accept u even better than a therapist who is paid to like u, hes not even paid. go to ur local church or ask sum1 u kno about jesus. plz, just try it, suicide wont be the answer, only answer is accepting jesus. and if u have accepted jesus, try and pray to Him, everything in ur life will make a difference to ur overall outcome and everything has a purpose. just try it. it really is the answer and the stories r really true jsut bcuz every prediction in the bible has happened except for one thing...the end of time and u shud accept Him, and u will feel better.
i hope u accept jesus and everything is ok!!! :)

You need to find a therapist or a psychiatrist... going to the regular doctor can sometimes make you feel worse. I would guess that he gave you a medication that is regulating your paranoid times... this is what is making you feel more down... It is really important to remember that no matter what someone else is having similar issues as you. There are a ton of support groups out there for people with similar issues. Look online or call your local health department and find someone to talk to... don't feel like you have no options... someone is always willing to talk to you... Good Luck and God Bless!

I would take more time off. Suicide is not the answer, you should quite your job before anything like that. Also if you feel more and more depressed and suicide seems like the only way to end it all, talk to someone. talk to a friend, a family member, a personal, hell you can even talk to me.
I have been in that place of depression, believe me it will go away and it will all be worth it.
e-mail me if you need to and I will give you my IM

Never, ever, ever assume the first doctor you see knows what he/she is talking about. If you don't think they got it right, see another one, and fast. Is there a reason why you feel depressed? Find someone to talk to and find another doctor. You health is your life and your life is worth a lot!!
