If i keep this car for 5 years+...which one will be more reliable?

BMW cars are generally better in the long run. There is nothing wrong with the IS but the BMW has more room on the inside, built more solid than the lexus, handles better, is made with better materials, and German engineering means that the BMW is more reliable than almost any other car in it's class.
Lexus cars are great but most people I know who own a lexus usually upgrade to a european car within 2 years, this is probably because of the resale value. BMW's retain their resale value even after 2 or 3 owners.

If you care about the all mighty dollar, the Lexus is the car to buy. It has better resale, cheaper maintenance and is more reliable.
For fun and prestige, you can't beat a manual BMW.

BMW is so bad with the maintenance problems that the rest really will not matter after a short while.
get the Lexus.

Lexus IS 250 is better. More reliabile, better safety, and less maintenance.

Definitely lexus. I own a GS300 and absolutely love it. I have friends that own BMW's and don't recommend them b/c they tend to give headaches. BMW is just a 'name', but it's not the graetest car out there, IMO
