It is the worst possible thing: it is the deliberate rejection of the essence of one's humanity: the ability to apply reason to evidence and draw logical conclusions.

True Christianity does not rely on blind faith.

Notice in Acts 2 when the church was established. Peter told them to "know assuredly" that Jesus was Christ (verse 36), but before this, they were shown evidence.

Peter and the other apostles talked about the fulfillment of prophecy, they mentioned the things written about Christ from the Old Testament, they saw miracles, and they were told about the numerous witnesses who had seen the risen Christ! Based on this evidence, they were told to "know" that Jesus was he Christ!

They weren't told just have a feeling, or that they should think Jesus was most likely Christ, but they should have rock solid faith; a sure, firm conviction. A faith beyond doubt! A trust in the Lordship of Christ!

There was nothing "blind" about this faith! Instead, they came to really see the truth for the first time!

Paul said, "I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED!" (1 Timothy 1:12)

"I know that my redeemer lives"! (Job 19:25) There is nothing "blind" about that!

If you don't believe that, then I can see something you can't, therefore, who is more blind?

I think faith is important and necessary for a lot of things. You may not understand fully or whatever, but you have an idea.
I think blind faith and faith are different from one another. While you need to have faith in some things you don't fully understand or maybe even agree with, blind faith is when you don't even get a chance to have things explained and you kind of just listen to what someone tells you as if you are gullible or something. More like brainwashed.
I don't like being un or misinformed and I don't like to take what a fellow human tells me as the truth all the time.
I thik faith is very good...but blind faith...not so much. I liek to ask questions and have reason to put my faith into something.

It's a very bad thing! I think people who rely on blind faith in a way that controls how they see the world can be a very dangereous thing!!! Why not rely on what is actually "real"?! At least with us athiests there's some proof in what we believe in...

According to the bible faith is belief of things unseen. So in other words believing in what you know and not just what you can see with the human eye. I don't consider my faith in God blind faith. I guess what I'm trying to say is I didn't wake up one morning a believer because I just had a sudden conviction that he existed. For me it was a long process and an inner battle with logic and reason. I think one of the greatest stumbling blocks for many Christians today is that they don't know what they believe or why they believe it. Their are so many Christians out their as well as Muslims and Jews who claim certain beliefs without ever studying their Holy Writ or Scripture. And many that do read their scripture don't even question the truthfulness of it but believe because they were brought up as Christians, or whatever beliefs the were taught.
My faith comes not from what I can see with my eye because through my own reasoning I have come to realize that looks can be deceiving. My beliefs are base upon what I know: (historical evidence, science, life and death, love and hate, good and evil. For example I am not able to see microorganisms with my natural eye, but when I become sick by ingesting or being wounded by an unsterilize object I know that the microorganisms are their and that I need to take an antibiotic that can rid me of this infection. This is how the scientist of old discovered microorganisms and cells in the first place. By their own reasoning they knew that something was their even though they were not able to see it. Their are so many things that have happen to me in this life that would have left me dead yet I am still here. I'm alive and well. I don't consider myself lucky to still be here. I'm still here on this earth not by coincidence but by God's grace. I don't consider the compatibility of the oxygen in the atmosphere with my respiratory, circulatory, or any organ system for that matter a mere coincidence. This is life by design and order of a higher power. I have asked myself may times "how can creation be true if evolution states a certain thing?" But I prayed about it constantly because I could see that doubt was really starting to settle in. All I wanted was the truth and I sought it with all my heart and that is when God began to reveal truth to me. For me true faith did not come blindly, but by seeking truth, aquiring knowledge, and last but not least, sound reasoning.

Blind faith cost Powell his credibility. Any institution or person that uses the blind faith argument, is either a control freak or is part of an organization that practices such. It is written: "Test the spirits to see if they are of God." That is why it is written in Romans 3;23, All have sinned and fallen short."

Christianity doesn't rely on blind faith. We have God's word and the many prophecies that prove it to be true.

Faith by definition is blind, ie, you are accepting something without questioning. As for religion, virtually nothing that religions talk about can be empirically proved . You either accept or reject what your religion says. It will depend on your inclination.

Christianity is not blind faith. It is Faith thru the Living Word of God. We christians have eyes that have been opened up, hearts that are full of the Holy Spirit and ears that hear our Lord's voice when He communicates to us thru His Word and thru His Holy Spirit that indwells us. Blind faith, I think is searching for truth in the dark, unable to find your way to truth unless you look to the Light of the world, Jesus Christ. God bless

It depends on what you have faith in. If it brings about positivity and peace then I don't see what could be wrong with it. Everyone needs to have faith in something, whether it be in a Deity, themselves, or an absolute. All that matters is peace and love.

Everything Jesus did was focused on eliminating blindness, physical and spiritual. The basic commands of Jesus are:"Follow Me," you cannot follow with your eyes closed; "Go into all the World," you cannot go with your eyes closed; "Come unto me," you cannot come with your eyes closed.
"Blind Faith" is an example of religious laziness. Everything Jesus said and did was designed to enable us to make sense out of the life we live.
Jesus taught us to stride not stumble along life's path.
