many ppl look at Jehovah's witnesses as wierd or they think we try to force people into our religion..or were not christians because we go to to door. DID YOU KNOW that jesus sent his disciples door to door by twos?luke 10:1 "After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come." Luke10:5,6 "Wherever YOU enter into a house say first, ‘May this house have peace.’ And if a friend of peace is there, YOUR peace will rest upon him. But if there is not, it will turn back to YOU. " after Jesus died the disciples continued doing as Jesus commanded. Acts5:42 "And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus." if you would like more scriptures on this or have any comments feel free to email me.

Really, everyone who respects and obeys Jesus Christ goes from door to door to teach his neighbors about the Bible's good news. It is interesting that only Jehovah's Witnesses are so clearly identified with the preaching work; globally more than 6 million preach publicly each month.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.

(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.

(Acts 20:20) I did not hold back ...from teaching you publicly and from house to house

It's sad when someone who claims to respect the bible actually insults or even advocates attacking a peaceful preacher. Sad but completely expected.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?

(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

It's rather silly -- or just biased? -- to say that the Greek expression KATA OIKON (Acts 5:42; 20:20) can mean "from house to house" but that it doesn't mean that because that's what Jehovah's Witnesses say it means!!!

Well, that's what it says in the King James Bible, which was not written nor translated by Jehovah's Witnesses. And that's what it says in most other Bibles, none of which were written nor translated by Jehovah's Witnesses.

At Matthew 10:12 the Lord Jesus Christ told his disciples, "When you are entering into the HOUSE (not just the city or village), greet the household." There are MANY verses that speak of Jesus and his disciples entering people's HOUSES to preach and to teach.

It would be nice if people would put their preconceptions and biases (and in some cases, ignorance) aside when they answer questions like this.

But I guess that would be too much to ask.

Ah, it's such a fine thing that Jehovah's Witnesses seek our approval, not from men, but from God.

You can not have someone arrested for trespassing unless you have a "No Trespassing" sign. We are not selling or soliciting anything, only sharing a thought from the bible, which is free.

Yes, the disciples and apostles went from house to house, from door to door and from city to city, in the market place, anywhere there were people, which is what Jehovah's Witnesses try to do today.

Yes, witnessing is scriptural.
JW's do not have a monopoly on witnessing.
Note Luke 10:1 alittle more closely:
THE LORD DESIGNATED 70 others.... what about the other followers? Seems those 70 were missionaries in their own land, and then expanded to other areas.
All Christian religions have designated missionaries to spread the good news.
How many of your organization actually practice verses 5 and 6? I was never taught during my tenure (30+ years) to do so.
This is a scriptural topic that no one disagrees with your organization about, however what bothers me is your organization's attempt to use this topic as another proof that they are God's ONLY representatives here participating in this command. The comments from JW's here indicate that they are ignorant to what is really going on in Christian religion. They believe the WBTS when they are told that THEY are the only ones doing this. Again, as with so many other false information, JW followers believe blindly with whatever the society tells them even when it is obviously FALSE.
Continue with your boasting, receive your recgonition here on earth as Jesus said, because that's ALL you're going to get after boasting as the Pharisees did.
So, consider this: If the idea that you are NOT the only religion practicing this witnessing work as your society has told you, WHAT ELSE ARE THEY WRONG ABOUT???
Take a few moments to ponder THAT.

True, he did.He sent them out 70-- in groups of 2.
Later, as more ppl; came to believe he was the Messiah, God's own Son he also sent out men, women and children; shortly b-4 he ascended to heaven.
Looking for those that would respond to the "good news' w/ appreciation.
I just finished reading the "Greastest Man' last nite. (personal reading). Just b-4 he ascended to heaven, he had asked Peter 3 times if he loved him, he told Peter to feed his sheep.
I've found that its actually a feast; what Jehovah has sent to feed His sheep. Myriads and myriads of spiritual food.

edit:
Moises, I did answer your Q.
Expertless; No, that's not it. Thx for asking.

Yes. People don't seem to want to realize that it is a burden for witnesses to travel door to door in that the burden is the negative and hateful responses they receive from those at the houses or businesses who don't stop to think that they're doing the good deed of sharing great news out of love for Jehovah and for them. It would be easier for witnesses to be able to predict who will be accepting of the good news and who won't because they would just travel to those houses where it is easy to share the good news, but that's not the way Jehovah wants it. One of Jehovah's main qualities is endurance thus witnesses do endure as it helps them to appreciate the fine work that they do and when they do come across a home where the meek one resides, the endurance they have suffered has all been worth it.

He wants witnesses to travel to any house because maybe they can reach the beligerant one who lacked accurate knowledge but whose heart has been touched as that one may be one of the many written in Jehovah's book of life and no one knew it.

It would be nice if witnesses had some keen vision to know who is going to be nice and who isn't because after all they don't get paid, but they love to please their heavenly father and they love to share the good news --- not for monetary gain or bragging rights, but they know with that important information they have to share it could help save many lives --- even the ridiculers. I might add that there have been many ridiculers that through Jehovah God's grace and through witnesses sharing the good news of the kingdom, that have been saved who have come to make the truth their own. They are now baptized brothers and sisters who themselves preach the good news door to door or at a supermarket, wherever they can get the chance because they know they could potentially help save a life or more.

Witnesses do not get paid but are workers out in the harvest to share the good news of the kingdom with anyone who wants to listen and realizes that the state of this world is becoming to be one of little hope that it will NOT get any better. That is because mankind and his wars, crime, violence, starvation, immorality, pestilence, unrest, etc., have damaged any chance of true peace and redemption but on its current course, only further destruction.

Oh, if you would just listen to the good news of my brothers and sisters you will attain accurate knowledge and can enjoy some measure of peace even in a world that cannot offer you any hope until that day, Armageddon when all the wicked in the earth will be destroyed and those that love Jehovah God and his ways, and associate themselves with his loving organization will not perish.

It was a JW that really opened my eyes to Jesus - one of the people that goes door to door. I did not become a JW, there are too many things that church requires that I know I cannot do/ don't agree with.

But I will always be grateful to Kelly and her kids for helping me to better know Christ.

I was thinking (is not very usual)Jesus creates all things cause he is God, and the last creation was humans then the Hell was created before Adam, then he creates a place to torture people before they sin, and he knew that they will sin, so he decided to create before the creation of humans a horrible place to torture us, he put all the fire 100,000 degrees and the brimstone also wow!!

according to the bible Satan rebels in the garden of Edem (after the creation of hell) read Ezekiel 28:11 and you will see he was as a guardian in Edem and the he becomes evil only 6000 years ago after the creation fo Adam and Eve and of course hell.
It is incredible but that is what christianity are spreading and we even realize that we are doing it!!!! all this crap that I already say it is exactly what christianity has been teaching as a God of love, it is no strange that Jesus will reject the majority of us (Christians) according to Matthew 7:21-23 and also why atheist think we are stupids.

can you explain me why? nobody can answer me.

Expertless, how she is going to answer you if you don´t let nobody email you?
