Dwarf swords, miroswords, Java fern, Java Moss, Riccia, elodea, cabamba and some small species of anubia. All of those, as well as many others, will work well in a 10 gallon tank.

I have 3 different plants in there. Real plants of coz. It grows pretty well with my aquarium lamp only. Healthy and all. Can get em at most fish shops, and they are hardy(dont need maintainance) and very cheap. Fishes love to sleep on the plants every day, esp my corys~

Java Fern or Java Moss. Just be sure to have good lighting.

Lighting that came with the tank should be fine. These are the 2 that I have found to do very well with standard lighting.

Java moss should spread giving you a carpet of green [discard what you don't want]

Anubias are almost bulletproof. They endure most water/lighting conditions and toss up a flower sometimes. I've got A. nanas and Barteri (sp?) that have chugged away for 10+ years donating their excess growth to other tanks and terrariums].
