Thank you for your previous answers. Got updates on my kitty. He is 17 1/2 yrs. I brought him to the vet because he was kind of out of it with dilated eye. Since that day, he has been having cluster seizures. I spoke my concerns with the vet and she said there is not much we can do at his age. I feel so wrong. He seems so happy. His seizures are quiet, he falls down and muscles are stiff. He has some out of the blue and most of them it is because I pet him and he becomes really happy or if I enter the room same thing, seems as he gets happy. I feel sad to fake ignoring him. What should I do? Isn't there any thing I can do? He seems to happy for us to decide that it is over ... He is my baby (first cat) had him for 17 yrs

Thank you

As long as he is happy then don't worry about it. Your only option at this point is putting him to sleep or letting him live. As long as the seizures don't seem to be causing him any pain and he is happy then keep him going. The main thing you need to look for is when he no longer seems happy or is in pain more often than not. Animals don't really have that much of a sense of the future so they can't look forward to a time when they aren't in pain. To an animal that is in constant pain there is no relief in sight as far as it's concerned.

Seizures and a dilated eye can point to a possible brain tumor in an elderly cat. Has your vet spoken to you regarding any medicine that may help? You may want a second opinion since your cat is still happy otherwise. A specialist may have some options.

One of my cats has seizures too and has the same symptoms as yours. Unless it affects your cat's quality of life, there's no reason to consider 'making the decision' at this point. If he is happy at this point, why change it?
Have you called vets around to inquire about medication? There are some medication out there that can help control the seizures..
As for my guy, his seizures do not occur as frequent so it is felt that he does not need medication at this point. But I do know of some patients who are on medication to control the frequency/severity.

Have they tried dilatin, neurontin,or some other type of anti seizure medication, my cat use to have seizures, and that's what my vet tried, because usually they don't give anti seizure meds to cat's; maybe to a dog and if your vet does give you the meds, you may have to adjust it somewhat, because that half of peel was to much, my cat was drinking water out of the sink fosset, and tried to jump from the sink to the table, and fell in between the sink and fosset, so adjusting is what I did, and we got back to normal with meds.
