I am rolling on the floor laughing!!! Not at your pain, frustration or anger but because I have one of those pod people too!
Whew, okay, I am calm.
My oldest, soon to b 17, is convinced she should be an only child. Drops her clothes around, locks herself in the bathroom that the rest of us use (she has her own but doesn't like it) thinks she can eat and sleep when she wants, and we should give her spending money and drive her around at the drop of a hat. Any of this sounding familiar?
I firmly remind her of how her behavior affects the rest of us- in detail. Ground her until chores are done- with a decent attitude. Cut off the funds. She also knows that if she leaves this house without permission, I will call the police. I am no-nonsense about her safety and zero tolerance for threats. She is working part time as a babysitter, gets straight A's and all in all is a decent person- but is a teenager!

You sit down with her and in a graceful way let her know how you feel about the things she does that do not show respect or consideration to the other people living in the house. If she shows that she does not care after your loving, graceful talk with her, then take more drastic measures. But I am sure in her heart she does not really want to be inconsiderate. And if she acts like she does not care, it is a sign of a deeper issue in her heart - most probably hurt feelings she has, or anger...try and get to the bottom of it - to her heart.

I have a teenage daughter also. I also have a daughter in her 20's who acted like that in her teens too. It's not always easy living with a teen but they do eventually grow out of it. She'll have to mature before she figures out she's not the princess she thinks she is.
