to represent him?

Doesn't it seem suspicious to you that Paul could not sell his story to those who walked with Jesus? Paul had to sell his story to people who never heard any of Jesus' sermons?

Why? Cause people who knew Jesus, knew Paul was a fraud.

Didn't Jesus have any other loving followers? Why would Jesus select a Sandhedrin (in a private showing)?

Did Jesus not appear to disciples all together, why didn't Jesus tell them that he had completely changed his mission to Earth?

If you were brainwashing someone, would you say "lean not on your own understanding". --- Don't try to understand just do what I say, said Paul.

Okay let me tackle the last paragraph first. Paul didn't say lean on his understanding either. All matters should be handled with the scripture and he did such.

Secondly Paul was reformed. Why not use Paul as a wonderful example? Didn't Jesus become well known for preaching to the tax collectors and harlots of that day? This is a prime example of the reformative powers of God's holy spirit upon a person. Paul put on the new personality and effectively became a new person. Also Jesus didn't make any secret revelations to Paul about a changing of missions. I'm not sure where that's coming from.

First of all, if Jesus is God (and He is) He can choose anyone He wants to represent Him. He Chose Paul because Paul was a Roman Jew and a committed persecutor of Christians, and by his instant conversion to Christianity it showed the greatness of God and gave hope to many.

Second of all Paul did not try to "sell" his story to anyone, and Jesus led him to preach in Greece and the other pagan countries because those people needed to hear God's word, "too. Remember Jesus died to save all mankind, not just His friends. Those who walked with Jesus heard the good news from Jesus, Himself; so it is only logical that the apostles would go other places to spread the word.

On what evidence do you base your assessment that Paul was a "fraud"?? Is it because you are not a Christian in the first place and don't know what you are talking about? Or could it be that you just have very little knowledge of the Christian faith even though you may be Christian?

Also Paul was NOT a Sanhedrin. He was a Roman Soldier and a Jewish citizen of Rome. Jesus did, of course, have loving followers but as Christians we All have the obligation to spread the word of God. His loving followers were busy doing what Paul was doing, but in other places

Jesus did appear to His Apostles and disciples in the upper room after His death so that the Holy Spirit could come over them and they would be given the courage and the languages to be able to go out and tell of Jesus Christ in foreign nations.
Jesus NEVER changed His mission on earth. What He said to His disciples while He was with them was the same when He gave them their Missions after His death.

"Lean not on your own understanding" simply means that when people make their own interpretations of God word without the help of the Holy Spirit bringing its true meaning to light, they can be wrong. When Jesus anointed His Apostles with the Holy Spirit (including Paul) He instructed their hearts with the Truth of His word. Paul was very articulate and he knew that the people he was preaching to had different cultures and ways of interpreting things, so he was simply telling them that they should take God's word in faith and accept the explanations of those who were more qualified to interpret because they had been anointed by the Holy Spirit.
"BRAINWASHING" was not what Paul was doing!

Jesus knew Paul's heart. Jesus also knew that Paul was very educated. Even thought Paul persecuted the Christian church, he thought he was doing the right thing. Paul was zealous. Jesus picked him because of his character and his background. Remember that the Jews rejected Jesus. There were no capable Christians to do this work except a Jew.
Jesus did not change His mission. He was sent to save Israel-but Israel rejected Him. His next step was to take His rejected message to the Gentiles. Israel's rejection of Jesus did not take God by surprise-He is omniscient.

•“If you were brainwashing someone, would you say "lean not on your own understanding". --- Don't try to understand just do what I say, said Paul.”

In fact, those are almost the exact words a visitor reads upon entering the new Creation (faux-) Museum. If you want to brainwash people and keep them stupid, the first thing you do is keep them away from knowledge, understanding, and truth.

The more basic question is: Why do people believe in Jesus or even think that he was real?

----------------------

ka yun yoon --

The Gospels claim that Jesus was well and widely known, not only by his many followers, but also Priests, Pontius Pilate, and Herod, knew "of the fame of Jesus" (Matt 14:1)" and that the multitude of people thought of Jesus as a prophet as well as a teacher, healer, and miracle worker (Matt:14:5).

(Matt: 4:25) states that "there followed him [Jesus] great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judea, and from beyond Jordon." (Luke 12:1) speaks of, "innumerable multitude of people... trod one upon another" and, "fame abroad of him… and great multitudes came together to hear..." (Luke 5:15).

The persecution of Jesus in Jerusalem was such a big deal that the Prefect Pontius Pilate and the High Priest Joseph Caiaphas not only knew about it, but were part of it (Matt 21:15-23, 26:3, Luke 19:47, 23:13).

If this is all true, why is Jesus NEVER MENTIONED by any of these people? And, why are there NO RECORDS about any of this or even of ANYONE (Jesus or otherwise) having great multitudes of followers or going around performing miracles?

If Jesus did live, no one at the time thought his live worth noting or documenting. If he was crucified in Jerusalem, no one seems to have cared, or even noticed.

Paul did not reject the actual international. He did not meet Jesus in guy or woman beforehand he died, yet he did meet Jesus after his resurrection, that's why it seems that to you that he 'renounced any awareness of Jesus with the aid of human ingredients'. He became only being common approximately how he met him. As for issues seen and unseen, Paul isn't rejected this existence (he has a lot to assert approximately it), yet he's refuting the theory this existence is all there is. This existence must be seen in the sunshine of our eternal destiny, and that's while issues are going to be appropriate and finished (quite than in this existence). yet Paul rejected any techniques that the actual international did not rely. His writings are packed together with his arguments against that concept. So of path Paul might have common the walking, speaking, genuine existence Jesus. that's the Jesus he preached.

because like Jesus said "those who sin much love much" Paul fit that, and he wanted to use Paul because Paul was "a Jew of Jews" educated in all the finest schools of the time a Sanhedrin he could be used not only to convert the Gentiles but also the knowledgeable people who knew what he was and were he was educated before his conversion. He was a Christian killer and persecutor, only a meeting with Christ himself could change Paul or a man like that.

Peter and the other disciples were to be witnesses to the Jews, Paul was to be witness to the Gentiles...Paul formerly killed Christians and was extremely zealous about stopping the church of Christ...God judges a mans heart and sees what others do not, try reading the entire book of Acts, you will find many answers in that book of the bible.

Paul was definitely a creepy guy, ugly, contentious, grumpy, short-tempered and a self-proclaimed recipient of a special dispensation from Christ, i.e., no corroboration whatsoever besides his self-proclamation, whom the other apostles didn't particularly like. Still in history's 20-20 hindsight it seems he's had a tremendous impact on Christianity and should be given credit where credit's due.

"Lean not on your own understanding."
That sounds like good advice for you too.
Where did you get your version of the Bible?

First Paul was a devout pharisaic Jew.
He had made it his mission to persecute Christians.
Then Jesus spoke to him on the road to Damascus.
Obviously that got his attention! And changed his mind.

Then a Christian was sent to teach him about Jesus.
Paul started teaching this 'gospel' to the gentiles.
When some questions arose, he went to Jerusalem.
There he checked out his teaching with Peter & Apostles.

That isn't what He is saying at all. Study a little bit of greek before you spout off about Paul. God's mission is to reconcile all to Him,not just jews, but gentiles as well.
