Daytona and Talladega are the sole tracks that require a restrictor plate. Nascar used restrictor plates at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for a collectively as yet they do no longer use them there anymore.

When Bill Elliot turned a lopof over 212 miles per hour at Talladega NASCAR started using them to controll the cars speeds.And when Bobby Allison got into the fence and nearly into the grandstands at Talladega that sealed the deal.

Yeah, Allison's wreck scared the heck out of NASCAR. The felt the needed to slow the cars down, thus the birth of restrictor plates.
