And it was your job to fill them in on all that has happened while they were asleep, what major events would you tell them about?

I ask this question here (in R & S) only because everyone I know is here.....I realize that it really isn't a religious question....sorry about that.

Thanks

George Bush was elected president over Al Gore. Al got the popular vote, but the ballots were stopped counted in Fl by a supreme court ruling.

then came the most iconic day in american history

September 11, 2001- Terrorists hijacked planes and crashed them into the north tower of the WTC, a few minutes later, another plane hit the South Tower as the world watched on live TV. They also hit the pentagon. Another plane crashed in an empty field in Pa, a few miles from DC. The passengers fought back.

We then placed the blame on Al-Queda and the Taliban in Afganistan. We went to Afganistan and had the Taliban out by December.

Now here's where it gets weird...
sometime in 2002, Bush started going on about Iraq, how Saddam had WMDs(weapons of mass destruction) and was connected with terrorists, terrorists like Al-Queada. While he never said it specifically, it was implied that Saddam had a hand in 9/11.

Anyway, in march 2003 we go to Iraq.
In December Saddam is captured.

by now we've realized there are no WMDs, and that Iraq was going to be a tricky conflict. we're still in Iraq

2004-Bush re-elected.
At the end of 2004, a tsunami hit Indonesia

Around September 2005, Huricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans, for weeks it was like a third world country

2006- Terrorists in London detonate bombs in the subway on July 7th.

later in August, a terrorist plot was stopped. The plan was to use liquid explosives on american planes in midair during a transatlantic flight.

2007- Cho Seung Hui, a student of Virginia tech, shoots 31 people on campus.

today- London police found a few carbombs, and are suspecting an attack.

IN OTHER NEWS

around 2004 the ipod came out. Its an mp3 player.

yesterday, the Iphone came out, its similar to the ipod where it plays music, but now it can also be a phone.

and the internet really picked up. there's this thing called wikipedia, where anyone can edit and add info to an encylopaedia.

and of course, Yahoo Answers was created.

Makes no differences what age you were in the accident or what age you feel you may be 7 years later you are the age you are but you are also the age you feel inside and this is what I would go with. No jail bating! LOL I would have to muster up some strength and be strong to live my life as though I don't need others -if I have survived for 7 years without people I shall survive now with out people and I will also know that it is only temporary, now that I am a living talking waling humanbeing once more someone will suerly find me interesting some time eventaully -I will go to singles night at the book store and anywhere else if I don't drink, I will talk up a AA class, go to church to meet others, if I drink I will go to the clubs alone. I will get a cat and a dog for compassion and company till' mr. or mrs. right walk into my life, I will have faith that soon they will and I will faith that timing is everything! Also must have a hobby! Socializing well now that would come in on the classes I would take up and the places I would hang out I like the idea of being a regular at certain places people will get to know you and people will not be afraid to introduce you to others...

I was once in a coma myself, for 14 days. On re-awakening I was unable to speak, and although I recognised friends and family members, I neither knew where I was or why I was there.
This is because during my coma I had 'been' to: Africa, in order to extricate my youngest daughter from Ethiopia; the USA, where I helped stop a terrorist attack on the US President; Britain, where I was unsure if I was in London, Portsmouth or Edinburgh (all very different cities in real life);
and back to the US in order to fake my death and throw off the terrorist group who were after revenge on me for spoiling their plots: and these 'events' are merely the tip of the 'dream' iceberg!

Suffice to say, on recovering my voice I was able to re-connect with reality and confirm I had never actually left the hospital after initial admittance with suspected appendicitis. The coma came about because I actually had a perforated bowel (asymptomatic and spontaneous, with no obvious cause). The extremely vivid -- though actually ridiculous -- 'dreams' were the result of the diamorphine I was on, and the coma was caused by me actually dying through major organ failure.
I immediately took an interest in current events, though only 'out of it' for 3 weeks (1 week medically-induced coma).

My advice would be: tell them of events only when they express an interest, give bare bones only on bad events and highlight the good events; and if they show any signs of distress, e.g. crying or even just reacting with closed eyes or other tell-tale signs, then change tack and tell them some lighter news, and good news.

Hope this helps; God bless.

I would tell him / her that lots of things happened in the past 7 years some things were very scary and some things were also very nice. I would tell the person that life as he knew it is much more expensive. I would also highlight some life changing events so that when people talk about 9/11 or tsunami's that he would know about it.

Good question. I once had to tell a person who had been gone for a couple (off fixing our van in Africa) days that 2 of the people he had missioned with had gone home to be with the Lord. I found that so difficult....I think the first thing to do would be to pray for wisdom to know what they needed to know first. Start gently and give them only bits at a time....not more than they could handle at one time, especially if they needed to know about any family being with Jesus. (and need time to grieve). And September 11th would need time to be absorbed and grieved over.

I like the" I ask here because everyone I know is here." God bless us all and give us the knowledge and wisdom to do as you would have us do Father in times when it's really, really hard, the jobs you set before us whether big or small.<><

Anyone I knew 7 years ago would need to know my wife, dad and grandparents (mothers parents) died.My oldest step-son is in the second Iraq war.I moved.I am still following Jesus.
note:I don't mean to be depressing but anyone that knew me then most likely knew at least my wife and dad.

Wasn't there was this guy in Russia that was in a comma for 19 years I think and just awoke from it recently. They say he was shocked that the USSR and communism was broken up.
