But what is so wrong with the 10 commandments? They are excellent. Just think, if everyone on earth lived by the 10 commandments would there be any wars? Would there be half the problems there are on earth?

With the perfect sacrifice of Christ, the Law was brought to an end and Christians were not under the law.(Colossians 2:13,14; Galations 3:25; Galations 3:10-14; Romans 10:4; Romans 6:14) But, many of the basic laws and principles were adopted into Christianity. The same thing happens when a new government is elected in a country, the new government doesn't get rid of all the laws of the old one, they often keep them, such as laws against murder, hurting others, stealing.

Compare the 10 commandments to the following Christian laws and teachings:
"It is Jehovah your God you must worship." (Matthew 4:10; 1 Corinthians 10:20-22)
"Guard yourselves from idols." (1 John 5:21; 1 Corinthians 10:14)
"Our Father...let your name be sanctified." (Not treated in a worthless way) (Matthew 6:9)
"Children, be obedient to your parents." (Ephesians 6:1,2)
And God's Word clearly states that murder, adultery, stealing, lying, and coveting are against laws of Chrisitans. (Revelation 21:8; 1 John 3:15; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7; Ephesians 4:25,28; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Luke 12:15; Colossians 3:5)

Christians, in general, aren't confused on what their rules for living are. Each denomination has rules or guidelines for their believers. The 10 Commandments is generally considered a set of rules for all Christians since Christianity was born out of the Jewish religion, and the 10 Commandments survived the transition into their faith.

Christians are not posting all of the commandments. For God made 306 Commandments. And at Matthew 5:17-20 Jesus said that we had better not forget a single word of them all. But to many Christians don't want to do all we are told to do.

The Holy Trinity gave us the 10 commandments. God revealed Himself as Yahweh to the Jews. When Christ came he told us He was ONe ature and three persons
Don´t forget taht Christ came to perfect the law given by Moses.
First of all, the 10 commandments are natural law, given to teh Jews, but also written in everybody´s heart.
Secondly, Jesus is God, the second person of the Trinity. He didn´t abolish the commandments. When God sent his Son, some laws were abolished (e.g, the rubrics regarding food). The 10 commandments weren´t because they represent the core of God´s law, which was made perfect by Christianity.

The ten commandments are part of the old testiment which is in the Christian bible. That is why they follow them. I think that Christianity could be viewed as a group that supposedly "does not know what laws to live by" because they are divided into many Catholic and Protestant sects with slightly different views on religion. Also most christian majorty states do not use religion so much in their Social structures. IE their government. Where as the Jews or Islamic Religions are much more of a defined way of life that is in every aspect of their living including their government and schooling.

Who said that the 10 commandments were invalidated?

The Old Testament is still considered Scripture by Christians, as all of it still applies.

But some of the particulars of the Mosaic law have been abrogated by Jesus (e.g. dietary laws) since the point of these laws was to instill a particular discipline in the Old Testament Jews that is no longer applicable to Christians after Jesus - but all the moral and theological principles that are timeless because they apply to the operations of human and divine nature are still valid.

While the old commandments are no more, the church readopted and readapted the old commandments for use by new covenant Christians, some time ago.

They no longer have the power they once did though, as we are now under the grace and mercy of Christ, according to the power and the authority that Jesus gave to his church.

Well the Christians did steal there ideas from the Jews. The Christian religeon was originally the Jewish religeon. The Christians took the Jews religeion and made it there own. That could be why theres some confusion in the Christian community. but thats just a guess.

Christians believe in the 10 commandments too. And I'm Jewish, not a Christian.

No confusion. Only for those that do not know what Christ meant when He said that He did not come to destroy, but to fulfill the law. You are still to honor God's law, even delight in it. Living righteously makes a person want to obey God. Christ freed us from the law of sin, which is that the wages of sin is death. But through Christ, we obtain life. All clear now?
