I was used used to the boring hymns and when I changed churches it took some time to get used to the contemporary music. But after I got used to it I loved contemporary music. I like Darlene Zschech, and Chris Tomlin the best.

Great Question. It has taken me a while to come around to the change in music styles from the traditional Hymnal book to the more modern music with instruments other than a piano. I think it is ok as long as the songs have a Godly theme or are about Jesus Christ. I think the song by Jeremy Camp "Give Me Jesus" would be a great song to sing in Church. However even thought I like the song "I wish You Could See Me now" about the guy that changed his lifestyle from bad to good, would not be appropriate in Church. That song is a personal song from him and is dedicated to another person (not God). In that song the singer is saying that he wishes the person that knew him before his change could see him now. You know 100 years ago Christians (mainly protestants) protested over bringing the piano into churches. Piano's were mainly used in honkey tonks, bars and prostitute houses. I think in 5 to 10 years the Hymnal process will be radical changed to incorperate more modern songs.

I like both because there are both good traditional songs and the more modern ones too. And we play a mix of both at our church.

My church uses classical music, as well as traditional hymns accompanied by a pipe organ. In some churches, modern music would fit in, but in mine, it would seem a bit out of place. I love classical music and the reverence it inspires.

Honestly, I really like both. I believe there are some great Christian truths in the old hymns as well as the newer worship songs. My Church usually has old hymns but I definitely enjoy both kinds!
