Yes, but I am not sure that you have it quite right. If someone treats you badly you must take the high road and either change it (if possible) or don't engage them in any way. You should always treat people and everything else in existence with respect. That way you will be treated with that respect as well. Now that doesn't mean you won't encounter disrespectful or down right rotten people but if you take the high road in that situation then good will come back to you in the future.
I once had a director that was disrespectful and assumed because of her position which was kind of achieved through the back door that she deserved a certain amount of respect at any cost to anyone else. Well she was wrong, she is now in danger of losing her directorship and she deserves to lose it.
The person she wronged just didn't engage in any communication with her again and it has taken a year and by the time it is over (stripped of her title and pay) it could be a full 2 yrs but the point is she will get what she put out there right back.
In your case ask the person what's up? Take it from there.

Giving people their own medicine is the only way they can learn on an emotional level how they hurt you.
Also, if you are an atheist, then you really can't count on them getting what they deserve in the afterlife and so you have to make it happen now.
Furthermore, evil people don't always get punished for what they do, so no the saying doesn't always apply.

Yep, it is true but it also hits three times harder back at you. So the moral of the saying is to treat people with respect.

If you ignore people, you will be ignored.
