An Atheist because at least s/he is honest. A Mafia guy who is involved with that lifestyle, is lying to himself and God. IOW Untrustworthy, therefore God is not with him....so why should I care if he is "religious" or not. Obviously, God didn't stick with them.

The mafia isn't true to his faith. His is a theft and a murderer and sometimes an adulterer. How would I know that the atheist obeys every law? And every man-made law doesn't mean it's moral.
I honestly don't trust any person completely. But if I was in a life and death situation, I would hope that I could trust the person next to me and he/she could trust me as well. Either way, I would be praying to God through it all.

I'm more concerned with my soul and both of these I would not trust with my soul.
The mafia guy is of body but not soul; when he's commiting crimes.
The atheist guy/girl is of body but not soul.
If I HAD to choose a protector for my physical body to do something important ... I would choose the mafia guy because he's got more fire power and blow away anyone who messes with me.

Probably a rhetorical question, but the A theist (without belief in God / religion) who obeys the law. Society requires us to follow certain rules to protect the general population and "trust" can come from someone who does not have a belief system other than laws that are imposed by society.

Both the mafia guy, no matter how religious, and the atheist are sinners and do not follow the Bible. Atheist can be more trustworthy than a criminal who claims to be religious. So I would pick atheist.
